That evening Catherine went for the meeting and was smiling throughout, what these people thought was impossible. She did it in the blink of an eye.
She couldn't wait for the meeting to end so she could tell David.
“I got the job!!” Catherine gleamed in happiness and joy as she announced to David.
“Well, I'm so proud of you” He pulled her into a hug which came as a shock to the both of them.
“How did you do it?”
“I walked right into the office and pointed a gun to the boss's head, threatened him to give me the job or else I end his life”
“Look who's learning so quickly, five years wasn't enough, seems like you already miss the prison”
“Will you stop making these Prison jokes?,”
“I will when you stop being a being an easy target”
“I honestly don't know how to do that, David”
“Well then, don't make me ruin what makes me happy”
Catherine smiled and sat down. Thinking of what happened earlier that day.
“I think I did something I'm not quite proud of today though,” she started talking but then paused.
She was torn between telling David or just letting awkwardness eat her up inside.
“What was that?” David asked curiously.
She decided to keep it in, besides they barely knew each other.
“How was your day like?,for you? How's your typical day like?”
“I don't know, after I got out of prison, and finish my convict class, I went on to learn graphics design and web designing, and I also volunteered to teach this class,”
“I can clearly see that,” Catherine scoffed. “Why were you in prison and how long”
“I stayed for three years, what I did doesn't really matter”
“Really?, It doesn't matter?”
“Whenever it becomes relevant, I'll make sure you know, it isn't relevant now” He smirked.
“Do you like this place?”
“Yh, I don't like this place” David mimicked.
They sat down and looked around for a while.
“Wanna leave this place?”
“Yes please” Catherine answered without hesitating she took her bag and they left the room immediately.

Daniel was driving home in his car that day and he also kept on reminiscing about what had happened earlier.
He was thinking of the way he had acted and reacted to seeing Catherine, Genevieve in this case.
It wasn't his fault he acted that way, he's naturally under pressure, and his coping mechanism was to act indifferent, he figured it out years ago and it really helped a lot.
Daniel also thought he was being feared rather than respected. He instilled fear in people but that's how he's been wired.
Eve has been on his neck since morning, that was another lot to handle.
Even in all this chaos, he still thought about how Genevieve had this unusual effect on him.
He knew he was harsh towards her, but the only reason he was that harsh was because he knew he had a soft spot for a stranger and in order to avoid such a relationship with his assistant, he needed to be tough on and not lenient with her.
He wanted to clear his head and decided to visit his bar. The one he frequented.
*************
“So earlier today, I got a text from someone saying they would come after me” Catherine sat comfortably in her favorite spot on the counter in her favorite bar.
“Let me guess, they threatened to take you back to jail because you don't deserve to be free?” David asked her.
Catherine looked at him in amazement.
“Don't give me that look, I got like a million of those texts when I was fresh out”
“So, it's absolutely normal and nothing to call an alarm for?”
“Well, it actually depends on the content of the text, I can't for sure know, mine wasn't horrible and it slid off really quickly, I didn't commit a severe offense.”
“What exactly did you go to jail for?” Catherine asked again, “Why did you serve jail term?”
“I told you I'd tell you when it's called for, right now, it's uncalled for”
“Right”
“About the texts, let me see,” David tried to change the subject.
Catherine went through her bag and brought out her phone.
“There,” she showed it to him.
“I don't think this should be anything to worry about”
“Are you for real?”
“Of course I am,” David touched her face “Have I told you how pretty you are”
Catherine smiled “I don't think you have”
“Well I'm telling you now, you're pretty, and I thought you looked pretty on the first night we both had an encounter too, the difference is just right now, you look even prettier”
“Really, you thought so?, you barely looked at me that day” Catherine countered him.
“When one is faced with the presence of immense beauty, who dares to stare at it in the face?”
“But here you are staring at me in the face, David”
“Catherine, will you just let me go on with what I'm saying and stop meddling.” David whined.
“I'm sorry, I'm sorry, go on” Catherine said and placed her fingers to hold her lips from moving.
“Catherine Augey”
When David mentioned that name, what came to her mind was ‘Genevieve Aubrey'.
She knew one day, this will make her have an identity crisis, she feared the risk of losing herself, while pretending to be someone she's not.
“Are you listening to me?”
Catherine was lost in thought and didn't hear what David said.
“What?”
“You seemed lost, I'll start all over again.”
“Yh, sure” she used her hands to arrange her hair and sat upright.
David took her hand into his.
“Catherine Augey, I know this might be crazy and we just met, but I think I've fallen in love with you, I spent these past few days thinking of how I could make you mine, this opportunity came and I don't think I want to pass it by, you make me happy and I'd be really happy to have you by my side as my girlfriend.” David spoke with passion in his voice.
Catherine was at first speechless, with nothing to say, she sat there and was staring at David.
“Uhm, I am sorry if that made you uncomfortable, I'll..” Catherine placed her fingers on his lips, and shushed him. Making it the second time.
“I already told you, you talked too much”, She smiled. “Yes David, I like you too, I would love to be your girlfriend” she stood up to hug him and kissed him passionately.
The bell rang and Daniel walked in.
He saw Catherine in David's hands, his face first expressed shock and then went back to its normal state.
He sat by the counter where he was that day.
“Genevieve, we meet again” he loosened a button and sat down.
“Mr. Daniel”
“Genevieve?” David muttered.
“Ignore him, he's my boss from work” Catherine whispered into David's ears.
“What a surprise to see you here”
“I'm not really surprised to have met you here” Catherine snapped back.
“I'm David,” he stretched out his hand for a handshake.
Daniel looked at his hand but ignored it.
“That was rude,” Catherine retorted.
“So this is what you go around doing when you're not at work?” Daniel didn't know when that slipped out of his mouth.
“Get a life”
Catherine left the bar with David and knew immediately that the awkwardness and consequence of her action would start the next day, at work.
