The Promise

Another Day In Moscow

It's a clear and sunny monday morning in moscow.

The mist from the night's fog was gradually fading away,

and sitting in a room were three russian men of high calibre known as 'The Three' smoking and sipping whiskey in grand style.

They call the shots without moving around.

At exactly 10 o clock,footsteps approach the room,and a soldiers voice is heard saying;

"Allow me to introduce Nicholas Kavosky"

One of The Three presses a bell signifying affirmation.

As the soldiers footsteps recedes, Nicholas Kavoski walks in and proceeds with a bow and remains that way until one of The Three says;

"at ease soldier,what have you got" in a thick Russian accent.

Nicholas kavoski who is head of intelligence for the Russians said;

"our secret agent is getting close,the Americans are changing their strategy,we would bug their agency in a bit,we just need more time your eminence"

"No! The Three shouted in unison,

then one of them said

We don't have more time to spare,

"Our plan has to work,we need to know who's giving them information,they know too much,we'd have to change that,your agent is not giving us what we want,maybe we should pay one of her family members a visit,

that'd would perhaps make her work harder" as he walks towards one of the cabinet in the room.

He brings out a white envelope and hands it over to Nicholas kavoski and he says;

"This is the mission for tonight, bring in your best assassin because tonight we're sending a message to the Americans.

We're cutting their information supply,this target is one of our trusted acquaintance,but we have a feeling that he might turn against us,so we need him out before he gets that thought.

Make it clean' he said.

Nicholas Kavoski took the envelope but didn't open it as it was against the ethics of the job to talk about the target,all he was supposed to do was take the envelope back to his base.

He took another long bow as he exits the room.

As he was walking down the hallway,he knew he had to go to the soldiers post to collect his belongings as is the tradition to relieve yourself of all belongings except relevant files before you're allowed to meet The Three

As soon as he took his belongings,he stepped out of the premises and called Stefan who's the top secret Assassin agent used by the Russians and said;

"Hello Stefan,come see me in my office, we got work to do"

He knew he had to get to his office before Stefan to see the picture in the envelope before he gives out the kill order.

As he entered his car and started driving,he called Cara and said "I'd like to make an order" which in actuality means he wants to see her,but in order to maintain the disguise they spoke in those type of codes.

He drove for about an hour,and as he approached his office, instead of heading straight into the parking space,he drove past it,just to ensure he wasn't being followed.

After One minute of driving aimlessly,he returned back to the parking lot,they were at war with the Americans,he needs to be careful as much as possible,

but as weird as it sounds,his wife and his children live in America,they couldn't fly back to Russia before the war broke out.

In his deepest of thoughts he wants the war to end but he's neck dipped in this war,his uncle is one of The Three

As he enters his office,he takes out the white envelope to see who the target was,

And as he opened the envelope,the picture he saw was his wife's brother,he is head of intelligence,if the man in the picture was ratting them out, he'd be the first to know,but that has never been a situation.

He paces round the room wondering why The Three would want his in-law dead.

But he knows the rules,obey and ask questions later.

His in-law has been very helpful to him.

He was a former Russian ambassador to America before the war,and he has been a great ally to Nicholas Kovaski during this period of war.

He starts thinking to himself if he's being tested by The Three

But he has to make this decision as fast as possible before Stefan arrives,

if he is to continue earning the trust of The Three

he has to carry out the assignment,as his secret role is to assign underground assassinations, despite being the Head of Intelligence.

Just as he was pacing round his office,he heard a single knock on his door.

He knew it was Stefan,as that was the pattern they operated with,a single knock means the coast is clear,a triple knock signifies danger.

Nicholas Kavoski opens the door and Stefan walks in wearing a black Mafia suit,he takes his sit without uttering a word.

Nicholas Kavoski walks over to his table,collects the envelope and hands it over to Stefan.

He is so worried,but he knows the rules, nobody discusses the target.

As Stefan stands up to make his exit,

Nicholas Kavoski says;

"Please don't make it too messy"

Stefan just nods his head as he walks out of the room.

Nicholas Kavoski takes a seat whilst going through the documents on his table.

He was just about to call Cara when she walked in unannounced.

Nicholas Kavoski says;

"Hello Cara,The Three don't seem satisfied with your pace and progress,you need to up your game, they're thinking of activating Code 7 and you know what that means my dearest Cara,I don't want to see you hurt,I put you in this in the first place"

At this point Cara is already sobbing and shedding tears,and she says;

"I don't want my family to die because of me,I can't back down now,promise me, promise me you'd protect my family Nicholas.

I will do my best,but leave my family out of this Nicholas"

She stands up to walk out of the room all teary but quickly wipes her face to conceal her emotions.

At the Train station 10 miles away from Nicholas Kavoski's office,his in-law the former Ambassador was having lunch with his daughter at the cafeteria while waiting for his cousin who was coming from St. Petersburg.

The former Ambassador is a well connected man who has ears and eyes everywhere.

But the news of his assassination was beyond his Intel coverage.

But he is not the type to be caught Off guard,

he had three armed bodyguards on his payroll,he knew there was a level of doubt in the system as to where his loyalty lies since he has once been accused of slamming The Three

in a news bulletin that went viral in the whole of Russia.

The weather was getting colder by the hour, Stefan was getting ready to make his move,he's an assassin but he doesn't work alone,he has to track his target first to abide by all the professionalism associated with his job.

He makes a Prank call to the former Ambassador and says;

"Code 727, I'm from the Us Embassy,Mr Liam sent me,I'm the envoy,I have to leave this town in two days before my cover is blown"

The former Ambassador said "code 727 copied,meet me at the train station in Zurich in ten minutes.

point of contact, subway down the docks,white hat"

It sounded way too easy for Stefan,he kits up as a reverend,puts his tools underneath his garment,calls his cohorts and gives them the location of the Former Ambassador while emailing a copy of the target's photo.

As he awaits confirmation of snipers in the various positions to eliminate target,he boards a cab heading to the train station, nothing must go wrong.

Stefan's burner phone rings as the person on the other side of the telephone in a thick Russian accent says "In Position Boss"

As Stefan approaches the station,he observes the vicinity for possible threats to know if the mission would be aborted before he meets the target.

As he walks into the train station,he makes his way down to the subway to meet the former Ambassador,while looking out for the white hat,and as he sees it he acts with all seriousness,walks close to the target and whispers;

"code 727"

and as he waits for a response he prepares to hand over the fake package but first he has to confirm target,if he hands over the package it means the snipers can shoot in the next five seconds,but if he hesitates to hand over package,mission must be aborted.

As he observes the target's face it was obvious it was the former Ambassador,they both gaze into each other's eyes as Stefan quickly hands him the package and starts hurrying away.

The former Ambassador looks around and starts walking away swiftly in an opposite direction.

The time is ticking,it's almost five seconds,they have to take the shot,

at exactly five seconds the three snipers took their shots at the same time, before the bodyguards could even locate where the shots were coming from the whole subway was already in pandemonium, everyone was already running Helter skelter,it was just another day in Moscow and a prominent figure has just been assassinated and in a very short while the media would sound it out loud.

What a sad day!
