“Huh! What are you doing here?” Widofrie asked, his voice filled with surprise. His eyes widened as Anyah suddenly appeared before him, as if she had come out of nowhere. Anyah crossed her arms and gave him a knowing look. “I knew it,” she said, a small smile forming on her lips. “I’m not the only one watching people. You are too.” Widofrie frowned, clearly confused. “Huh? What are you talking about?” he replied. “Lord Naderus ordered me to follow this man’s life.” He lifted his hand and pointed toward an older man in the Mirror of Life. Even from a distance, the man’s charm could not be denied. Though age had touched his face, his strong presence and quiet handsomeness still remained. Curious, Anyah turned her attention to the Mirror of Life. The glowing surface shimmered softly, and as she looked closer, the image became clear. “Why? Who is he? What’s wrong with him?” she asked, her voice gentler now, filled with curiosity. For some reason, she felt something strange stir inside her chest the moment she saw the man.She couldn’t explain it, but it made her want to know more. Inside the mirror, scenes from the man’s life unfolded one after another, vivid and easy to see. He was a wealthy man, living in a grand home—but despite all his riches, he was alone. He had no family, no loved ones to stay by his side. The only people around him were his servants, who came and went like shadows in his quiet world. Widofrie glanced at Anyah, his expression turning serious. “He is Vergel Elizalde,” he said softly. “And soon… he will leave this world.” He paused for a moment before adding, “His days on earth are numbered.” “Huh! Is that so?” Anyah said, her brows drawing together in confusion. “Then what will happen to him after he dies? Will Quezar come to take him?” Widofrie slowly shook his head. “No.” Anyah blinked, even more puzzled. “Huh? Why? Is he a bad person? Won’t he go to Serece?” Widofrie did not answer right away. Instead, he looked at the glowing Mirror of Life, as if searching for the right words. Then he spoke in a low, serious voice. “Would you believe me if I told you… that the course of his life suddenly changed?” Anyah’s eyes widened. “What? Why?” Widofrie turned to face her. “His name was erased from the Book of Death,” he said. “And in the Book of Life… twenty more years were added to his lifespan.” “What?!” Anyah gasped, taking a step back. “That’s impossible! How could that happen? Everything written in those books is never meant to change. How could it change for someone like him?” Her voice trembled with disbelief. For five hundred years as an angel, and five hundred years in the Hemenstrial Realm, she had witnessed countless lives begin and end. The laws of the books had always been absolute—unchanging, unquestioned. And yet, for the first time in all those years… she was hearing of something impossible.
