Personal prison

Serena's eyes opened slowly. She struggled to wake up, raising one hand to shield her face from the ray of sunlight coming through the window. For a few seconds, she simply stared at the unfamiliar ceiling. Then she noticed the unfamiliar scent, the strange walls, and the room she had never seen before. Serena slowly sat up and looked around. This wasn't her room. This wasn't her house. Her heart began pounding. “Where am I?” She threw the blanket aside and hurried toward the door. Her hand closed around the handle, and she twisted it. Nothing. She tried again, harder this time. Still nothing. The door was locked. “How?” She pulled the handle again, panic beginning to rise inside her. “Where am I? Who owns this place?” Then the memories came rushing back. The highway. The gunfire. The smoke. Her father and mother. Elora. Lucian had taken her. Serena's eyes widened. “Elora.” She immediately turned back to the door and began pounding on it. “Let me out!” She struck the door again. “Please! Excuse me! I need to go!” No one answered. She continued banging against the door, growing more frustrated with every unanswered plea. “Let me out!” Then she remembered the silence. No one was coming. “LUCIAN!” Her voice echoed through the room. “LUCIAN!” Still nothing. “Where is my sister?” Her strength slowly left her. Serena slid down against the door and buried her face in her knees as the tears finally came. “How did everything become this way?” Her voice trembled. “How did it turn out like this?” She wiped her face, feeling completely helpless. She had returned home believing that she was finally going to have a normal life, yet everything had fallen apart in a single night. Her family was gone. Elora was missing. And now she was trapped. Suddenly, footsteps sounded outside. Serena lifted her head immediately. The lock turned. The door opened, and three maids entered. Two carried trays of food while the third pushed a rack of clothes into the room. “Eat, bathe, and get dressed,” one of them said. Serena stared at her. “Wait. Where am I?” The maid didn't answer. “How do I leave?” Nothing. “Where is my sister?” The women turned and walked out without another word. The door slammed shut behind them. A moment later, Serena heard the lock click again. She stared at the door in disbelief before turning away in frustration. With no other choice, she carried her heavy body into the bathroom. After taking a shower, she returned to the bedroom. Her clothes from the previous night were dirty from everything that had happened, so she walked over to the rack and chose something clean. Once dressed, she returned to the door. She waited. Then she heard the lock twisting. Serena immediately stepped back. The door swung open. Lucian stood on the other side. Her anger returned instantly. She walked straight toward him. “Let me out of this place.” Lucian stared at her without saying anything. “Why am I here? Why have you locked me up?” She stepped closer. “Where is my sister? Tell me what you did to her. Where is she? I want to see her.” Lucian's expression remained cold. “I'm not with your sister.” Serena froze. “She is with them,” he continued. His voice carried no emotion. “And I don't give a bloody f**k what happens to her. If she dies or lives, it's not my business.” Serena stared at him in disbelief. “You…” Her voice shook with anger. “How can you say that?” Lucian ignored the question. " Enjoy your stay.” “I don't want any paradise or mansion from you.” Lucian looked at her. “Keep that in mind.” He paused before continuing. “This isn't paradise.” His gaze hardened. “This is your personal prison.” Serena's expression changed. “You don't think that just because I let your father go, you're free, do you?” He stepped closer. “You are going to stay here, and you're going to suffer for everything your father did.” He held her gaze. “Is that clear?” Serena clenched her fists. Lucian turned toward the door. “Now be a good girl, close your mouth, and enjoy what life has to give.” He began walking out. “No!” He stopped. “Don't walk out on me!” Serena rushed toward him. “Tell me where my sister is! Get me out of this place!” Lucian remained still for a moment before turning back toward her. He said nothing. Instead, he walked to the table and placed a small carton on it. Then he walked out. The door closed behind him. Serena stared at the carton. Slowly, she approached it and opened it. Her eyes widened when she saw what was inside. An inhaler. She picked it up and held it tightly. For a moment, she simply stared at it before sitting down and forcing herself to take a small bite of the food. She couldn't eat. The tears returned, and she covered her face as she sobbed. Her family had been torn apart. Her sister was missing. And she was trapped inside the home of the man who blamed her family for something she didn't even understand. Serena wiped her tears and looked toward the locked door. Her hands slowly curled into fists. She didn't know why Lucian hated her family. She didn't know what her father had done twenty years ago or why she had been dragged into a war she knew nothing about. But she knew one thing. She would find Elora. She would uncover the truth. And she would make Lucian pay for what he had done to her family. Whatever the reason behind his hatred, she no longer cared. She wanted revenge.
