The room froze for a moment.
Jack gazed at Clara longingly, his hand clutching the corner of his clothes, his throat dry. An unknown amount of time passed before he managed to force out, "I understand."
Getting her answer, Clara fled the medical room in a panic.
Jack was left alone, staring blankly and obsessively in the direction she had gone.
