Chapter 12

Being back at school is a little more nerve-racking than I thought it was. Seeing the stares of different people puts a different kind of fear I’ve never experienced in my mind. I look into the mirror to see who I have become. If I'm not Kairo Rose, then who am I? I slam the face cloth on the counter and walked out of the bathroom. My eyes land immediately on Noah. His eyes are full of concern for me “You’ve been looking at me like that since we got here. “ Noah sat up on the bed and reached his arms out to me

“ Because I can feel how you feel “ I take a deep breath and walk towards him. He takes my hand and pulls me close “ How exactly do I feel? I don’t know what I am feeling. This is new for me. I feel like everybody is judging me, I feel like everybody is talking about me. I feel like, I feel like my parents don’t love me anymore, but they have to keep it up for my sake “ Tears start to fall from my eyes “ Don’t say that “ Noah takes a pack of tissue out f his jacket and wipes my eyes “ I don’t know myself like this “ I lay my head on Noah's head Noah takes his hands and rub my arms.

“ This is a different version of you that you have to figure out. You're not the Kairo from a couple of weeks ago that had it all figured out. You're anxious, you’re scared because you don’t have it all figured out right now and you are not certain what is going on or what is going to happen. Only with time you will have it figured out again.” Noah kisses my forehead. “ You will always know I feel how I feel, If that grants you some peace of mind”

It makes me feel a little better knowing I have Noah through this “ Come go to bed we have a big day tomorrow “ I nod my head Noah's parents are coming tomorrow evening and tomorrow I start class with Santana. The courses are offered to advanced students but Me, Icey, Noah, Liam, and my brothers will be apart of it. Hopefully, tomorrow won't be so eventful.

The morning came as fast as it goes. Last night I had the best sleep ever. It wasn’t so bad sleeping directly beside Noah i like the fact now he gives me some resemblance of peace. But now that peace is over I’m not where I want to be in class i feel my phone bussing in my pocket I take it out to see I’ve gotten a text from Zen.

“ Meet me outside the door “ I look over to the classroom door and see Zen standing at the door I get up from my table and inform the teacher I am leaving. They don’t care what I do, I leave out the door and I'm suddenly backed against the wall “ Hey you “ I look up to see Noah “ Wow Kairos guard is down. That's weird” I rest my head on Noah's head and ruffle his hair “ Hey” he kisses my cheek Noah releases me from his arm cage. He put me in “ My guard is let down involuntarily. Why are you pulling me out of class” I look at Zen confused. “ Well we just got back from helping Ice." I’m surprised they did it this quickly and didn’t give them any time it's an intense process. “Well how is she ?” Zen shrugs his shoulders “ Well she’s still passed out Liam was scared shitless it was kinda funny you would’ve found it entertaining “ I roll my eyes “Would I have ?”

Noah nods his head. “She got him good, you somehow stopped yourself from hurting me. But she was a bit difficult.” " I'm confused. When did this happen? Because I’m pretty sure you woke up when I did this morning “ Noah grabs my hand “ I got pulled out of 1st period, and when finished I came straight here “ "Did you get hurt? " I wanted to make sure he didn't get hurt she shakes his head no, But it makes sense It's already the end of the day which means they've been at it almost all day. I see at the corner of my eye that Zen is moving franticly. I move away from Noah and walk toward Zen “ Are you ok ?” I try to put my hand on his shoulder but he backs up “ Noah man breathe “ I look at Noah “What is wrong with him ?”

“ He found his mate ? “

I pull out my phone and dial my mom's number, but the call went to voice mail. “ Who could it possibly be. He’s been in and out of this school every day. “

Noah and I tried to hold him up while he was trying to breathe “ I think I can jump us from here to Mom's office” Noah looked at me in disbelief “ You think it works like that ?” I take a deep breath. Then close my eyes and do what works for me. So I imagine where I want to go and poof I'm “ Kairo what are you doing in my office “ I pop up in front of my mother but we not in her office we are in the infirmary I look at Noah to see him looking at his parents “ Oh s**t “ comes out of my mouth then I lock eyes with a girl hyperventilating “ Mate “ comes out of Zens's mouth I take a deep breath look back at my mom and smile.

“ The girl name is Rumi. She’s here because they wanted to introduce her to Noah “

“ Well, that's disrespectful.”

“ Tell me about it, but as fate would have it. Now she’s mated to Zen. They have no choice but to let it go “

“ She’s really pretty. “

“ Kairo so are you stop it. My mom tried to reach out and touch me, but I backed away “ Twin-“ “That's the thing mom I’m not your twin anymore. I don’t look like you “She pulls me in and hugs me tight.

“ You are my daughter, regardless of whether you look like me or not. I pushed you out of me. Damn the rest, you are my twin, so stop it please ! Whatever you're going through, I am always here for you “

“ While this is nice what the hell happened? And what's that smell? It's suffocating. “She lets me go to check on Zen “ You passed out dummy, does the word mate come to mind ? “ I point my head to the girl laying there also passed out. She’s gorgeous. Her skin is caramel colored her hair is strawberry blond. Her eyes that I saw were a brownish-pink color. It's mesmerizing." Her name is Rumi. She came with Noah's family.”

“ Well mom, all your children have mates except for Zayvier “ I shrug my shoulders. “ Be here when she wakes up, Zen get to know her talk I have a royal family to talk to “ Mom points her finger at Zen. Then she grabs my hand and pulls me out of one fire just to toss me and sauté me in another. Honestly, a vacation to hell sounds nice right about now.
