Chapter 1

Present 17th birthday

"Happy birthday children and first day of school," my parents yelled as soon as we opened the door to my parent's office; I smile and hug my dad.

"Your presents are in your rooms at the school "

I look up at my parents "at the school? we are moving there? "my father nods his head "your mother thought it would be a good idea to have you there on campus you're old enough to take care of yourself and it's only until you graduate "I roll my eyes.

"Sick "Zen & Zander says in excitement, "so we can do whatever we want? "Zayvier asked.

"Of course, not there are rules you still have to follow, and you will follow, understand?" My mother is a gentle soul, but she can be scary sometimes. The boys wouldn't dare cross her. "Yes ma'am” the boys said together, "Princess? you don't want to be there? " I look up at my father; of course not; I don't like people. "No but I'll tolerate it for right now "

"That's my girl " my dad pats me on the head.

"Dad? " his golden eyes focused on mine. "We are 17 now. What if we find our mates?" I look back down the room goes quiet. "My father clears his throat. We never talked about it; father always knew this day would come through the day I would be separated from him, my mother, and my brothers. The deal was if I am to leave the pack, one of my brothers will go with me since I'm close to Zander, and he volunteered.

"Well, if you guys do happen to find your mate and they go to this school you have to finish school so you will be here you move into the same room on the mated hall nothing out of the ordinary."

I look at my mother, her melanated skin glistening in the sun, her hair as dark as the midnight sky, and her eyes of Emerald . My mother is beautiful; she shot me a smile, instantly putting me at ease.

"You'll be ok Twin "

My mother calls me twin because I look exactly like her, well a younger version, of course, I nod my head, putting my mind at ease I kept telling myself my mate isn't there I can go back home I don't have anything to worry about.

I laugh, cutting my teacher off. "Something funny Lady Rose? "I nod my head. "My father isn't a Lightning Tamer; Lightning taming is an ability that a fire elemental possesses both me and my father can take our charka and can make electricity out of nowhere it's a huge difference "

"Where's the difference Lady Kairo? "

"I just told you, my brother is a fire elemental he can bend the natural element that is fire to his will which means he can pull lightning from the sky and bend it to his will, being a chakra user you can generate electricity out of nowhere like my father and my self "

I roll my eyes as I grab my bag.

"I'm out of here make sure you know what you're talking about next time maybe I'll stay "

with saying that I leave the class, and my phone buzzes, I close the door behind me and take out my phone to check my messages.

"Did you hear prince Noah is coming back tonight the headmistress told me to have people get his room ready "I looked at Makayla and Lauryn walking toward me. I wave, "Hey Kairo we are excited about your party tonight " it's no surprise that every year my parents throw a back-to-school / Birthday party for us since it's the same day most of the time. Makayla is a freshman, and her cousin Lauryn is a sophomore and my mom's assistant; I smile as they keep walking; I don't talk to anybody around here other than my best friend, but Noah Latraine is the last person I ever want to see.

Noah was my friend, but we got too close. We went to the movies together, walked to class together, and came to train with me. Everybody swore up and down we were mates. One day we made plans to go to the Christmas light show. The next day he stopped talking to me altogether. He would walk past me, not acknowledging me. I'd admit it hurt a lot. Still, I went along with it though I spent time in my room crying my eyes out, wondering what I have done. I was 14 soon after I started getting notes in my locker saying.

I knew it was Noah; the letters stopped before we went on summer vacation. Every single last note went in the trash. Sometimes I did it, and he was right in front of me; I heard he started dating Maggie James. But it wasn't true, just a rumor, plus she left the academy. He was the one person everybody wanted; he is the alpha prince, and every girl here is hoping to be his mate. But not me. I would rather die because he hurt me.

A loud bang pulls me out of my thoughts. "You just don't learn huh Zenny " I turn to see my brother being slammed against the locker by Liam, the next Alpha of the Strawberry Moon Pack, a punk who isn't using his common sense for trying to beat up the next Alpha of our pack and the one guy I can't stand the most.

I walk towards the confrontation, chuckling, "Zen, just kill him already it's not like you can't -"

"I'd wish you shut the hell up" Liam’s voice sounded like poison he ment what he said, I shrug my shoulders walking behind Liam, focusing on making it ice cold around us just below 20 degrees he started to breathe heavily it's so cold around us he can see his breath "Why the hell is it so cold "I look Zen in his golden eyes he's playing with him he's letting him have this. I kick Liam in the back of his leg; I hear his leg break making him scream in pain, and dropped releasing Zen from his grip. "You know Liam I could've frozen your body just a little bit then I could've ripped your heart out from behind but I don't want to hurt my cousin in the process and I hate begging " I shake my head "Kairo I had it! " I look at Zen, his sandy red hair all over the place, his Melanated skin bruised. "You let him beat on you, are you crazy?" I look my brother in the eyes.

"Look I didn't want to cause trouble for mom on our first day staying here "

"Yeah right if dad sees you like this, he will kill you for letting it happen then kill him "

"Kai, I had it "

I roll my eyes and start to walk away. I turn to look at Liam, moaning and holding his leg. "Oh yea and Liam I don't care what my brother or my father and the headmistress choose to do with you, but you come near me over a broken leg I'll kill you I’ll just have to beg my cousin for forgiveness later " with that being the last thing I said I walked away.

I was trying to avoid this confrontation. Word is getting around that we are staying on campus now, and I don't like that "Happy Birthday Kairo !" I turn around just for a smile to come to my face "Omg Thalia !" my best friend, Thalia Monroe, a tall glass of sunshine in my life, her upbeat attitude canceling out my "Cold and icy" attitude she says complete opposites. With her blond hair and porcelain skin and a smile that can fill the whole room, she's not an elemental, but she is a charka user, and she can get in your mind without having to touch you. That's why I keep my mental shields up because of the abilities like that, but that's why we are friends. She gets me without getting in my mind.

"Omg I can't believe your finally about to be staying on campus "

"Eh I'm not thrilled about it I almost had to kill Liam I just broke his leg though "

"Liam's has always been a douche though."

"Yea, but father has always trained us to kill we are assassins in a sense. Zen let Liam beat on him for what? I don't know, I didn't care what was going on until "Alpha" Liam told me to shut the hell up I still never forgave him for what he did to Icey "

" He's bold "Thalia shook her head.

"Right, want to go find my room and go meditate? I didn’t even have to go to classes today, but I decided I anyway, and the teacher pisses me off "

Thalia's eyes widen as if she was shocked. "You dont want to go to class? "I chuckle. "No I just walked out of one cause a teacher called my father a Lightning Tamer Zen is a lightning tamer my father isn't nor am I "Thalia laughed. "I'm sorry, but how are you a teacher and don't know what the founder is? "I laugh; her face looks genuinely confused. I link my arm with hers, and we go find my room.

Walking to my room number 333, I love how my mother did that cause that is my favorite Angel number. "Woah, your room is Amazing " I smile, pixy lights lining the room, a big screen tv mounted on the wall a canopy bed and bags in the corner of the room. "Omg this rug is so soft "Thalia lays on the rug and closes her eyes "when I die do bury me with this rug okay "I start to laugh and get on the rug, and it is that soft I cross my legs while putting my phone beside me I look up to see Thalia staring dead at me "something is going on in at twisted brain of yours " I shake my head in denial. She gives me a look if she could get in my head she would.

"Noah is going to be here tonight " I shrug my shoulders.

"I thought we were over Noah - "

"Screw him I just heard Makayla and Lauryn talking in the hallway about it thats it- "

"If your thinking about those notes stop he could be wrong there is a 50/50 chance even if he is, make his life a living hell "I take a deep breath and smile. I don't know how I go about my days without her sometimes she gets me.

"I still wonder why you know to waste all that time and effort just to wiggle his way in my life and then take his self out of it "I drop my head down in defeat and moved my hair out my face "Kairo your amazing and pretty badass to hell with Noah Latraine... Let us figure out your look for the party tonight "

"My mom told me she put the dress in my closet "she gets up and goes to my mirrored closet doors and pulls out a black protection bag with a bow.
