CHAPTER 24 - HE IS HERE

“How did he find us! What is he doing here? Did the Royal pack send him?” Zeus was asking questions as if I knew the answer. I looked at Maria and her skin was losing its color. I helped her get into my room. As I opened the door the twins quickly came running. 

    -What's wrong?

    -What happened to her?

    -Let me through…

I pushed them so I could get Maria into my bed. When I was about to leave the room I saw the twins were gone.

    -Maria stay here, I will go out and find why he is here.

I left the room and as I was about to go down the stairs. I saw him.

    -What are you doing here?

    -No hug to your best friend?

I smiled at him and when he was finally up I hugged him. 

    -But seriously what are you doing here?

    -I came to help. Sam is also like my little brother… He is really annoying but…

    -How did you find us? Did my Dad send you?

    -No, and the car you have has a GPS, so if someone wants to find you they can find you.

“We didn't think of that!” If what he is saying it’s true then anyone in the pack can track us, thanks to the car. I looked at it. It was parked in front of our room. “We need to get rid of that car Gabe.” I looked at Lucas and he was looking at my room. I grabbed him and dragged him down the stairs, away from my room.                   

    -Are you sure my Dad didn’t send you?

    -No.

    -Did someone follow you? 

    -No.

    -Since they can track my car, we need to get rid of it and your car. We can’t let them know where we are.

    -I bought this car, so it isn’t even in the Royal pack register.

    -Then we just need to get rid of my car. Should we burn it?

Lucas looked at me as if I was crazy.

    -I don’t think that’s the best idea, Gabe.

    -Then what do you suggest? 

    -It’s a good car, so we can sell it… The best option is to sell it to someone that drives around but not in this area, so if they decide to track it, the car wouldn’t be near us.

     -I like that idea, let’s do your idea.

I started walking to the car.

    -Wait like right now?

    -Yes right now, I don’t want to stay close to this tracking device.

    -Just wait a second.

He took out his phone and started doing something on it. “HE COULD BE TELLING THE ROYAL PACK THAT HE FIND US!” With Zeus screaming at my head I ran at Lucas and threw his phone away.

    -WHAT ARE YOU DOING GABE?

    -You say that no one sends you!

    -And no one did!

    -Then who were you texting!

    -I wasn’t texting anyone! I was looking for places to sell the car! Or deciding if an ad could work better!

He walked near the phone.

    -It’s not safe to turn it off.

He looked at me as if I was crazy.

    -Why it isn’t safe?

    -The phones also have GPS.

    -Do you think I could be that dumb? I changed my old phone for this one to someone that I saw on the street, so this is a kind of a new phone and the pack doesn't know this number or and that prevent them from tracking it down… and now the screen has a c***k on it. Thanks, Gabe.

    -But it still works?

    -Yes it still works.

    -That is the important part… Wait if no one send you, isn't your father worried about your disappearance.

He didn’t look at me and just continued looking at the phone.

    -I handle that part, they aren’t looking for me don’t worry.

    -Is this the human that just checked in?

I heard David said as he approached.

    -Human?

Lucas looked at me with disbelief and confusion. He hadn´t met the twins yet. I looked at them, Daniel bit a chocolate bar and his ears popped out. I just facepalmed myself.

    -So you should be Chris' sons.

    -You know about us?

    -Gabe humans know about us! DANGER!

With Daniel’s words, David’s ears popped out. I looked around and saw no one near. I used my two arms to grab the twins and dragged them all the way up the stairs and into my room… “Maria is in our room!” Zeus' voice reminded me that… I saw Lucas following us, so I entered Eva and Maria’s room and pushed the twins inside. I saw Lucas looking through the window of my room, the curtains didn't allow me to see much but I still grabbed him and also pushed him inside the room. As I closed the door I saw Eva walking out of the bathroom with just one towel on her.

    -Maria are you back? I’m hungry…

Followed by a huge scream and then I was hit with a small bottle of soap.

    -WHY ARE YOU IN MY ROOM! GET OUT…

Then her eyes stopped on Lucas.

    -Lucas?

    -A pleasure like always Eva.

Lucas's voice was filled with sarcasm, then Eva looked at me with serious eyes. 

-Where is Maria?

-She is in my room.

Eva took a dress from her bag and left the room without saying anything else.

    -She is still charming.

Lucas said while rolling his eyes.

    -You can’t blame her, you just appeared here unannounced.

I looked at the twins, their ears were still out, and were staring at Lucas every move.

    -Daniel, David, let me introduce you to Lucas Hotson, he is the son of the Alpha Louis Hotson of the Howlers pack.

    -You are the son of an Alpha and you aren’t a wolf?

They were both surprised. I couldn’t explain why he didn’t smell like a wolf, for them, he was human, just like Eva. Lucas sighed and looked at me. I knew he didn’t like the situation, he hates when he needs to act as if Asher didn’t exist. 

    -Yes.

    -That’s strange… really strange. But well not all members can be strong like us.

The twins started to talk between them, Lucas walked closer to me.

    -Let me stay Gabe, you need me, you need my knowledge of the human world more than anything…

    -No, you need to leave and go back to your pack, you can’t stay here.

I knew Maria wasn’t going to like the idea of him staying near her.

    -By what I see you need my help, and those two are definitely not ready to be around humans with the way they speak and their ears out.

I looked at the twins that were now fighting about who knows what.

    -He is right, we could use his knowledge.

I turned and saw Maria standing at the door.

    -But Maria… We also lived near humans and…

    -We need to think about what could help us find Sam. Don’t think of my commodity or my feelings, the priority is to find Sam. And he does have more interaction with humans than us.

I knew she was right but… I saw Lucas's eyes and they were fixed on my sister. Maria was still standing near the door.

    -We are going to work together for Sam’s sake, but that’s it.

    -Yes.

Lucas said, but I could hear the excitement in his voice.

    -Now can you leave my room, I need to rest and Eva needs to dress properly.

Then is when I notice Eva behind Maria. I walked out as I pushed Lucas. The twins also followed me, when we finally were out, Maria and Eva entered and closed the door. Lucas kept looking at the door. 

    -Lucas let’s go, we need to get rid of the car.

    -We need first the documents so we can sell the car.

    -I don’t have any documents of the car, I just have some IDs with my name.

    -So you don't have IDs for the twins and the rest?

    -No, but I got money.

    -You are going to need the IDs. I will make some calls and see what I can do.

He took his phone out and walked away. I entered the room and saw the twins still fighting, now they were trying to obtain the remote. I took it and looked at them.

    -Where is what we were practicing, we haven't been able to leave the hotel because you can’t keep your ears to yourselves! I need to go and do some stuff, please stay inside and just try to practice controlling your emotions and don’t open the door to anyone who isn’t Maria or Eva.

    -Yes.

David said while Daniel just looked at me. I felt bad for speaking so strongly to the twins, but I just couldn’t wait, we needed to be out and looking for Sam, not trapped trying to teach them how to control themselves. I left the room and knocked on Maria’s room. Eva opened the door, I entered and saw Maria. She was sitting on the bed looking at nothing.

    -Is she alright?

I turned and looked at Eva.

    -I’m fine Gabe.

Maria’s voice made me turn and she was now looking directly at me.

    -You don’t look fine.

    -It's just that…

I walked and sat next to her, I grabbed her hand.

    -I didn't feel anything.

I was confused, she felt nothing?

    -How can I… The last time I saw Lucas I felt… different, things that I never imagined I felt stuff that I didn’t want to feel, but it was so strong and powerful it just invaded me and I couldn’t control it.

I wasn’t getting anything she was trying to say, but I just kept looking at her and nodding.

    -Now I was shocked to see him, but nothing else, I don’t feel bad or happy, I was just shocked.

    -It’s good you don’t feel bad, right?

She looked at me, I could see confusion in her eyes.

    -Yes, I think.

    -Well, I’m actually leaving with Lucas, we are selling the car.

    -Why?

    -Long story, but keep an eye on the twins, don’t let them get too much attention.

    -Yes, I will check on them.

I kissed her hand and smiled at her.

    -If you feel uncomfortable near Lucas you can always tell me and I will try to help.

    -Thanks, Gabe.

I stood up and went to the door. Eva was still standing near the door. She didn’t look at me as I left.
