CHAPTER 15 - TIME TO GO

“She knows about our mate?” Zeus' voice was excited and had mixed feelings of anger, or those were my feelings? I was confused and in shock, I hadn't found my mate yet, but it’s not like I was looking for her, I had met many strong female warriors but no one attracted me…

    -I don’t want to know.

Samuel’s voice distracted me from my own thoughts.

    -Well I can’t say too much about your mate, the tie that binds you to your mate is there but I didn't see anything at the end.

Sam had a pale face. I took a step forward.

    -His mate could be just not of age yet.

    -No, when that happens the tie is not visible.

    -So I don’t have a mate? Is she dead?

    -No, the tie is still shining so you have one, but it’s empty so… This is the first time I see something like this.

    -What if the Moon Goddess is mad at you for looking at things witches don’t should be looking at.

    -No that can’t be, she has been really absent lately, her energy hasn’t been focused for years now.

I wasn’t following what she was saying, she knows the Moon Goddess? I saw one of the females that dragged Sam entering the room and Artemis looked at her. “Gabe...!” I walked at the girl and pushed through the door.

    -Stop playing with people’s heads, you can’t possibly see that so stop this now, and don’t you dare to keep taking members out of the pack land. Sam, we are going back home.

Sam started walking behind me and as we both stood out of the tree trunk the hole disappeared. A strange sensation filled my body. The other two females hugged the one that entered Artemis’s room.

    -What did she tell you?

    -Do you have a mate?

    -I couldn’t ask her, Alpha… The future Alpha stopped her and told her to stop playing with our heads, that she couldn’t predict if we had mates or not.

The two girls looked at me with anger, but they didn’t say anything.

    -Don’t worry she comes often, next time we will ask her for sure.

They started walking back to the main house. Sam was just standing there with his sight loss.

    -Sam doesn’t believe what she told you, she can’t possibly see that the Moon Goddess is the only one that knows about your mate.

    -You think so?

    -I know so, now let’s go, we need to pack.

    -We?

    -Dad is sending you with me to greet the packs.

    -WHAT? 

    -You heard me, come on.

    -No Gabe, you don’t understand, if I go there I will see…

His face was troubled.

    -All your girlfriends?

    -YES EXACTLY! Well, they are girls who are my friends…

    -More than friends.

He snarled at my words.

    -You get the point, what if they have mates already and the mates want to fight me? or…

    -You should have thought of that before you slept with them.

    -I never thought Dad would allow me out of the pack land.

    -Your dream was to be out and explore, right?

    -Not like that, not on pack land and greeting people like a snob.

    -Well that's what you got and you don't have an option but accept it and go on the trip with me.

    -Take someone else please brother.

    -It was not my idea, if you want to bail you need to inform Dad. 

    -And that’s what I’m going to do.

He then started walking to the main house, I kept my direction and walked to the house. I saw Eva playing with some kids in the front, they had a ball and some bottles all over the place. Eva saw me and had a surprised face.

    -Sorry Gabe, I didn’t know you were coming home early.

She said as she picked the bottles from the ground.

    -It’s okay, you can keep doing what you are doing, I will be in my room.

I entered the house without looking back. I went to the kitchen and took an apple and ate it while I went through my stuff and decided what I should take. The Shadow pack it’s in a place where I don’t need a jacket, and if I visit the nearby packs the climate would be almost the same, so I don’t need too many clothes. As I packed I heard small steps approaching, I looked at the door and saw a boy looking at me.

    -Are you lost?

    - I’m not lost, this house is small compared to the main house.

His voice was angry? Why? Did I do something to this kid? “Don’t look at me, he still doesn't get his wolf, so I didn't say anything to him.”

    -I’m sorry?

I was confused and…

    -You don’t need to be sorry, many adults are rude.

    -What? No, I wasn’t apologizing…

    -Then why did you say sorry?

    -I was trying to give you a second chance to elaborate on your answer.

    -Why?

I just can’t deal with kids now.

    -I’m busy, so if you could close the door.

    -Okay.

He entered my room and closed the door.

    -What do you think you’re doing?

    -What you just told me?

I took a deep breath.

    -Please leave my room.

    -Okay.

“Well that was easy, kids aren’t that complicated.”

    -But first, let's talk.

He said as he sat on my bed. “You were saying, Zeus?” “Never mind, just hear him so he leaves the room.”

    -Okay, then talk.

    -You need to be a man, not a kid. A pack needs a man to guide them.

    -Are you calling me a kid?

    -I’m just saying you need to improve, you are not being a good leader...

    -Who do you think you are talking to?

    -You are hurting the ones that love you and making them worry.

    -What?

    -You don’t even notice? Eva was trying to make you feel welcome and you just passed her, then some warriors came home asking if you were okay, apparently, you were distracted and low. They worry for you, they all depend on you and if you crumble they all crumble. You need to not just be okay for you but for everyone.

    -I…

    -You think your parents do what they want all the time? No, they need to be the example for the kingdom…

I heard steps and saw Eva opening the door.

    -Mat why are you here? Come let’s give some time alone to Gabe.

Eva took the kid’s hand and dragged him from the room. “Who was that kid?” “I’m not sure, I don’t remember seeing him around here before.” “How did he dare to speak like that to us! As if he knew all the things we do for the kingdom! What an ungrateful kid!” Zeus kept complaining while I continued packing stuff. After a while I was almost done with the suitcase open in my bed checking I didn’t forget something. When the door opened and Sam came in, pushed the suitcase down and landed in the bed.

    -I hate Dad, I hate him!

I looked at my stuff all over the floor now.

    -Well I kind of hate you now. I was almost done…

    -Don’t pack we are not going!

    -Did Dad say that?

    -No but I’m saying it now.

I rolled my eyes at him and started to pick my stuff up.

    -He didn’t listen to my points!

    -Did you tell him about your fear of being beaten to death by mates of your past girlfriends?

    -Of course not! But I told him I was going to run away and never come back if he let me go away from the pack land!

    -Really and how did that go?

    -Now I have Harvey as a bodyguard so he is going to watch me all the time.

    -Well at least someone that has a sense of responsibility is coming.

    -I don’t like Harvey, he is always saying the kingdom needs you to be better. The kingdom is the best that could have happened to you… He is so stiff… Just like you! I don’t want to go1 Please tell dad I died or that I’m sick… Something… Help me, brother!

    -You know I can’t go against my Dad’s words.

    -Harvey said the same thing! WHY ME WHY?

    -You can talk to Mom.

    -Gabe we both know Mom is always on Dad’s side with this kind of stuff, but I really just want to be… I want to do what I want to do.

    -We have responsibilities, Sam.

    -I never asked for that… I just want to…

    -We can’t do anything about the situation, so please go pack and try to see the bright side, you are actually going to be out and meet more packs.

    -I already did that in the past. Remember? I was on the harvest for the warriors. I thought it was going to be fun but it’s worth that staying in here. I had always pack members following me and watching me and had to do so many boring things, it was awful. I did some fun stuff but it was not in his senses and I could find some loopholes but now… it is going to be worse and even more boring than the last time.

    -And dangerous…

    -What?

    -Didn’t you say the mates were going to try to fight you?

    -You know I’m a good fighter, I mean it’s going to be fine and fun to fight at first but if the amount is near half of the… friends I had, I am going to be exhausted and bored from all the fights.

I walked to the bed and grabbed his arm and pulled him so he would stand up.

    -We will need to count them then. Now go pack your stuff, I don’t want Mom or Dad to come and force you to pack.

    -They don’t have time to come Gabe.

    -They would send Hrvaey or Elliot to do it then.

    -Great what I need is two annoying boys looking through my stuff.

He left my room and I started placing the stuff from the floor into my bed. I heard the door opening but I was just tired of it. I saw hands helping me pick the stuff, I didn’t need to see who was or smell the scent, I knew who it was. I laid my head on her shoulder and she just grabbed my hand.

    -Everything would be okay, you can do all that they throw you, you are the future king.

“She is right Gabe, we need to be able to handle all this.” I stood up and took a big breath. 

-You are right, I can do this.

She smiled and stood up.

    -I will make some sandwiches…

    -Are they going to have bacon?

    -Do you want the sandwich with bacon?

    -Always!

She smiled.

    -Then they will have bacon.

I continued re-packing and when I was done I closed the suitcase and let it near the front door. I saw Sam’s luggage already there. I walked into the kitchen and saw him eating. I took a bite and it was delicious. I heard the front door opening.

    -I’m leaving my stuff right next to yours.

I heard Harvey say.

    -And I would leave my stuff in Sam’s room.

Elliot’s voice was louder than what it needed to be.

    -WHY ARE YOU HERE?

Sam’ should and almost left me deaf. Elliot didn’t say a word but I could hear the steps as he went upstairs. I assume Sam also heard them because he left running and left his sandwich on his plate. As soon as Harvey entered the kitchen Eva offered him a sandwich that he happily accepted. Maria came home, which was not common and she also stayed with us in the kitchen then Sam and Eliot joined us and he laughed and for a second I forgot all of the things I was stressing about. suddenly Dad appeared in the kitchen. 

-I’m glad to see that you are done packing. Let's go, the plane is ready, Simon is waiting for you.

Maria stood up.

    -Then let’s go.

    -Are you coming with us sister?

    -No, but I will be with you until you get on the plane.

I saw Dad taking the bags. I turned and saw Sam saying goodbye to Elliot and Eva. 

    -Take care, Gabriel.

Elliot says. I turned and saw Eva with a big smile.

    -If you want to cry you can cry you know?

    -Thanks Gabe, but I’m really okay. I know you will be back and you are doing what you need to do, and you are great at it.

She hugged me and I hugged her back. I went out and entered the SUV. I saw Eva at the door, I saw the blue house as we drove away. “I already miss home.” “Me too Zeus, me too.”
