Chapter 32 sparing

~~Star’s P.O.V~~

  As the guards and warriors were posted outside around the training grounds, Nash and I were training with everyone else and it was time for me to shift into Sarah, so that I could spar with another one of the she-bears.

  “Alright, I need one of the females to spar with Star’s bear. Any volunteers?” Nash asked, standing up and one of the girls stood up and walked over to us. Her name was Kay, she had short brown hair, brown eyes and was about 5.6, she was eighteen and really nice.

  “I’ll spar with you. We need to teach your bear how to fight, just in case there is a war.” Kay said and I nodded. I forgot to bring a spare set of clothes with me and now I have to shift, I thought to myself and looked at Nash.

  “Okay Star, you need to shift into your bear. Don't worry, I got you a set of clothes and a towel to cover yourself up with when you shift back.” Nash said, smiling at me and it was as if he had read my mind. I took a deep breath and began to shift into my bear. It still hurt, but nowhere near as bad as it did the first time, thankfully. I opened my eyes and looked around to see that Kay had already shifted into her brown bear and Nash was standing next to me, looking up at me with a proud smile on his face.

  “Alright ladies, I want you to fight and fight hard, no holding back from each other.” Nash said and Kay nodded.

  “She's a tough bear and she will show you a few different ways to fight and block first, then the fight will begin. Don't worry, everything will be fine, I promise.” Nash said, mind-linking me and I nodded at him. It still felt pretty weird nodding your head while you're in your bear form and I had no idea how it looked or if it actually came across as a nod. I would have to ask Nash to shift and nod to see what it looked like later, but he would probably think I was joking, it didn't hurt to ask though. I watched as Kay stood up on her back legs and looked straight at me as she towered over me, as I was still standing on all four paws.

  “Okay Star, I’m going to show you a few things first and then we will spar. The more you learn the better you will be able to fight. So first I want you to watch each move that I do and once I am finished I want you to do the same, okay?” Kay said, mind-linking me and I nodded again. Kay started to show me a few moves and it looked really easy, she showed me how to spread my claws so that I could do more damage, where to bite my opponent so that I could get the advantage over them and she also gave me a few tips on blocking and how to throw a punch or rather swipe in bear form. After all the show and tell was done it was time for us to spar and even though I was still a little nervous it was nothing compared to before I knew these moves. Kay and I stood in the centre of the mats and she tried to hit me in the ribs, I blocked it, but I didn't see the second hit coming and I got hit in the head. She hit me so hard that I actually saw tiny little stars circling around my head. I shook it off and recovered fast, all the time watching Kay and trying to judge where her next move was coming from. I had watched Kay do her swings, punches and kicks, but now it was my turn and I took Kay by surprise, swinging hard at her and knocking Kay back. Kay recovered fast and charged at me at full speed, knocking me down and placing her claws at my throat. 

  “Do you submit?” Kay asked, mind-linking me.

  “I don't even know what that means.” I replied, mind-linking her back and pushing her claws from my neck. I got up off the ground and picked Kay up, throwing her on the ground and everyone was shocked. 

  “No bear has ever been able to pick up another like that before.” I heard someone in the crowd say, but I just shook it off and focused back on the fight. Kay snarled and got up running towards me, but before she could get close enough to me I blew a log up that Kay was running by and the blast knocked her on her ass. The sparring was over when Kay submitted and we both shifted back. Nash quickly ran over to me with a towel and wrapped it around me, handing me my clothes so I could go and get dressed behind a tree. I came from behind the tree and Kay walked up to me, now fully clothed.

  “I was sure that I had you, but when you blew up that log that was just too cool. I wish I knew how to do that.” Kay said and shook my hand, then bowed to Nash.

  “May I say, we are going to have one badass Luna.” Kay said, chuckling as she turned and left.

  “You did great. I was a little worried and I had to control Rune to stop him from jumping in and protecting you, but you did really good. I'm proud of you, you're a fast learner.” Nash said, hugging me and burying his head in the crook of my neck, inhaling my scent so that it would calm his bear down.

  “Let’s go and see what mom and dad are doing, I know that mom has been wanting to take you to a few Luna meetings with her.” Nash said, pulling away from me and kissing my cheek. I nodded and he took my hand as we walked back to the house.

~~Nash’s P.O.V~~

  Star did amazing, she was so strong and the fact that she was still able to use and control her powers in her bear form was extremely impressive. The whole time I watched them sparring Rune was going ballistic in my head and kept trying to push through, especially when Kay had her claws at Star’s throat, that nearly pushed him over the edge, but I was able to just about keep him under control. Thankfully when I inhaled Star’s scent it and knowing that our mate wasn't injured completely calmed him down. We got back to the house and went straight up to our room to shower and change, but I also had another surprise for her. I opened the door to our room and as soon as we walked in Star gasped.

  “Oh my god. When did you do all this?” Star asked, looking around at all her stuff. I had officially moved her in with me. I wanted to do it the day after her first shift, but after finding out that she had powers and increasing the security around Star after a rogue managed to get on our land, we never seemed to have the time, so I thought that while we were training I would ask Kelly if she could organise everything, knowing that she would jump at the chance.

  “While we were training and I didn't actually do it, I asked Kelly if she could sort it for me and she jumped at the chance to rearrange my room, telling me that it wasn't very girl friendly apparently.” I replied, laughing and rubbing the back of my neck. I still had no idea what she meant by girl friendly, but as I looked around I saw that Kelly had done a great job and everything had its place.

  “Thank you, this is amazing.” Star said, smiling at me and wrapping her arms around my neck. I pulled her closer to me and pecked her lips, making her giggle and then picked her up, carrying her bridal style to the bathroom. 

  “Thanks sis, Star loves it and it looks amazing. You're the best.” I said, mind-linking Kelly.

  “Well duh, of course I'm the best and you're welcome.” Kelly replied, mind-linking me back and I shook my head at how humble she was.

  “What’s wrong? Why are you shaking your head?” Star asked, looking at me worried and confused.

  “I just thanked Kelly through the mind-link and I never realised how humble she was.” I replied, laughing and shaking my head as Star still looked confused, but she soon shrugged it off when we got into the shower. We washed each other and dried each other off, before going back into the bedroom to get dressed. The only problem was that Kelly had not only moved all of Star’s stuff in here, she had also moved my stuff around, so it took me a while to figure out where she had put the clothes I wanted to wear. I had tried mind-linking Kelly, but she blocked me and even if she did answer it would end up being like some sort of scavenger hunt or something.

  “Have you tried in the dresser?” Star asked, laughing as she sat on the bed fully clothed while I was still wearing a towel and trying to find out where she had hid all my boxers and shorts.

  “Why would she move my clothes around? I liked them where they were, I knew exactly where everything was and now I need a map to find my boxers.” I said, pulling each of the drawers open in the dresser. I finally found them in the very last draw I looked in and quickly grabbed them, putting them on.

  “Great, now all you need to do is figure out where she put your t-shirts and jeans.” Star said, hysterically laughing at me as I groaned at the thought. After searching through all the drawers and walk-in closet I finally found everything and got dressed, while Star was still lying on the bed, laughing at me.

  “Right, I’m finally ready.” I said and Star nodded, getting off the bed and walking to the door. I took her hand in mine as we walked downstairs to my dad's office and I knocked on the door, waiting for an answer. No matter what I always knocked first now, not so long ago I just walked in and found my mom and dad at it, making me run back out in shock. I’ve been trying ever since to get the disturbing images out of my head. Since that day I always knock first and wait.

  “Come in.” My dad called and I opened the door, walking in with Star.

  “Come and sit down. What brings you both here?” My mom asked, smiling at both of us as we walked in.
