IVY'S POV
The whole event at Mrs Cordelia's House only made me feel as though I was falling into a deep mess. Firstly, it didn't even look as if he cared so much about the other night, he was acting as if nothing at all had happened!
Secondly, Jacob referred to him as the city's richest billionaire and the looks of everything gave off a middle class. I couldn't say that Jacob had been lying because as of the night, his aura alone gave out his entire background.
Mrs Cordelia insisted that he drove me back to my place even after my vain efforts to talk her out of it. I curled myself in the back seat and avoided everything that'd make either of us talk or look at each other.
"This is the location." He spoke up and looked at me from the front mirror.
"Thanks," I mumbled before running into my apartment. I felt his hot gaze on me while I ran and even when I heard him call out my name, I only ran faster, panting heavily while I did.
"Jeez, you look terrible. As if you saw a ghost on your way." Kristen joked.
I ignored her and collapsed on the couch.
"Hey, is everything okay?" This time her voice was laced with worry.
"I just need a little rest." I lowered my voice.
"You look like someone that's having a panic attack, Ivy. You can tell me if something is wrong."
"Just had a day I didn't plan for. That's all."
"Wanna go out?" She shrugged.
"I'm living on a budget, Miss."
"I'll take care of it don't worry." She persuaded me.
"There's no need for that." I pushed it aside, getting up weakly, and headed for my bed.
"Ivy, can you please listen to me and let me help make sure you're okay." I heard her stress her voice from the sitting room.
The only thing I wanted right now was to disappear. I was feeling all sorts of weird things right now. I knew it was a bad idea at first to perform a one-night stand with a stranger and to sign a contract marriage with someone I hadn't even seen for the first time, but my situation wasn't encouraging at all. I took the deal with Jacob to improve my finance and agreed to get married so I could distance myself from the awful s**t I called life, but now, everything just seemed to be haunting me.
I went to cool off in the shower only to see that my phone was ringing when I returned. It was Mrs Cordelia and I didn't even know what to say to her when I picked up the call, so I left the phone to ring. She texted me to know how I was doing and I replied after a little while.
I checked my messages for the credit alert Jacob promised to send in the morning and damn! I had a long day for me not to have noticed. I saw a call from an unknown number too and text messages but I ignored all and switched my phone off.
I wanted even if it was a temporary peace of mind. Maybe Kristen was right, a shopping would do, especially when the promised handsome sum arrived safely.
"Kris?" My voice echoed through the hallway.
"Kris, where are you?" I took my pitch a little higher.
"In the kitchen." I heard her from a distance.
Kris always had a way of surprising me with her cooking skills. Only God knew what she was making because I had never come across the ingredients she was using.
"Did an online shopping?" I asked, pointing at the ingredients.
"Yes. I was bored when you left so I ordered some things online." She winked at me.
"Oh okay. I uhm… I thought you'd be free for the shopping… I mean you were right. It'll help my mood." I shrugged.
"Are you serious?" She asked out of excitement, rubbing her hands on the white apron she was wearing before untying it immediately.
"Sure." I chuckled at her response.
"Oh, sweetheart! Let's get you ready for fun."
Kristen had this fire in her that somehow kept burning no matter what she was facing and a hype-man was no match for her when she was in the mood. I let her dress me up and apply some light makeup on me. While she dressed, I ran a quick mental calculation on all my expenses but decided to trash it when I recalled the amount in my account. 'One shopping wouldn't hurt.' I told myself.
She was up with her disguise so she dressed in a tank top and plain navy blue jeans. She handed me photochromic glasses and led us to board a cab.
"Where are we going to?" I asked in curiosity.
"Don't worry about anything, I'm taking the lead in this."
After minutes of cracking jokes in the cab, we finally arrived at the city's exquisite boutique, O.S. Glam. I tried convincing her to try out a less expensive one but she insisted. When we got in, some of the workers recognized her immediately and led us to the VIP section.
When she noticed that all I did was to avoid picking expensive clothes, she took over the shopping for me.
"Try these out, I'll be waiting for you here." She smiled proudly at her choices and handed me the clothes. I was so hesitant about it but Kris had the upper hand in this. I did as she asked only that when I stepped out of the changing room, I lost track of where I left her.
I kept wandering the grande floor only to bump into the same chest I once moaned into.
"Watch where you are going, Miss." He said plainly without bothering to look at me.
"Why are you even following me around?"
"What are you doing here?" His voice changed as if he just realized who bumped into him.
"Shopping, obviously –"
"Ivy?" Kristen interrupted from behind.
"What took you so long?" She breathed out only for the look on her face to turn sour the moment her eyes met Salvatore's.
"Finally," she hissed, "I found you."
I looked back at Salvatore who looked more amused than shocked.
"What's going on here?" I panicked not liking the look of how things were turning one bit.
"Do you know him Iv –"
"She is my wife." He smirked, putting his arms around my waist while enjoying the priceless look on Kristen's face.
"Look, Kris, I can explain." I tried calming her down but she only distanced herself from me as I kept trying to get closer to her.
"I can't believe this Ivy!" She yelled before storming out of the building.
"Maybe she didn't tell you, but she is my desperate ex." He admitted shamelessly as he walked past me, reminding me about Kristen's confession earlier.
'I was the girl she came to hunt.' I gasped in shock
