22. Feels Like A Date

Chapter 22. 

                Leanne is looking at the view from the passenger side window, considering there’s not much of conversation between her and Ace, inside the car. Not that she’s complaining— it’s better for her to not getting involve with Ace at all, or even in a slight of deep conversation.

    She just has to be steady and not thinking or feels about anything that might distract her focus. Even though not long for her to realised-- just a bit of looking at Ace, in his casual white polo shirt, using his manly watch, the way he styled his hair, his perfume, the way he’s driving or how big his hands on the wheels—Great! Leanne cursed inside her heart, blaming herself for easily break.

    They;—Ace, Leanne, plus One, were on the way to pick up Cheryl at school, using Calvin’s SUV car instead of Ace’s masculine-dodge-pursuit-sedan. Leanne faced to the window, inhaled deeply while closing her eyes finding Ace’s scent is actually calmed her. She’s so screwed—she said inside her head.

    “Thinking about something complicated?” Ace suddenly spoke.

    “Huh? No..”

    Stay calm you fool! He can’t read your mind.—she said inside, before quickly respond.

    “Just a little bit sleepy- - I was daydreaming—I guess..”

    “Didn’t get much of a sleep, last night?”

    Uh-oh, the word ‘last night’ was actually off limit. Leanne felt like she’s saying the wrong alibi.—since the conversation about last night can be up again. But then again, she can’t be too obvious trying to avoid right away or looks anxiously in their conversation, right? He’ll know.—she thought.

    “No.. not at all.”

    “Why are you sleepy then?”

    “- - I just woke up way earlier, than usual.” She took a glance at him, met his eyes for a second.

    “Wow, you’re very good at lying.” Ace said with a slight chuckled.

    “I am not!” Leanne casually raised her voice a little.

    “I thought, I said my apology about last night. Is it still bothering you, until now?”

    “You just love assuming everything about me, don’t you?” said Leanne, she looked annoyed.

    “And you just love not to answers my question.” He smirked, looking at Leanne for a while when the car stopped for the red light. “Enlightened me.”

    Leanne took a deep breath with her mouth opened, she hates it if she has to admit that she still bothered and can’t forget about the kiss at all.

    “I just- - feel bad, okay? I want to forget about everything. And move on. I’d appreciate it if you’re not talking about it anymore.—which is too late, because we’re talking about it, again.” Leanne said while unawarely licking her lips.

    For a second Ace just noticing how cute she was, “Well, just so you’re not keep feeling bad about it—It was an honest mistake, it’s just a kiss—it’s not like we’re sleeping together.” He cleared his throat for a second. “Besides, I’m not even in a relationship with June, I mean--officially.” He said while continued to move the car.

    Leanne looked away to the side window again while can’t help herself to smiled a little, rolling her eyes and mumbled. “MEN.”

    “What? It’s true!” Ace laughed a little. “So, you better not burdened yourself with that kind of thoughts anymore.”

    “Fine, can we change the subject, please?”

    “Be my guest..” He said in a very cool way, in Leanne’s eyes.

    After what he said, Leanne felt as if she has to bring up another conversation. She took time glancing at the view from the side window again, before facing to Ace.    

    “I guess- - I have to apologise too, for forgot to congratulate you in person- - on your birthday too. So- - Happy belated birthday.” She said gently.

    Ace can sense her sincere until he felt the needs to kiss her again. Ace tightened his grabbing on the steering wheels in reflex. He then chuckled again, in a very sexy way in Leanne’s eyes.

    “There’s no reason for you, to say sorry at all..” He still smirking. “’Cause, first of all-- I’m not four,” His smiles, lips, and movement caught Leanne’s eyes, makes Leanne felt a punch in her stomach. They’re already arrived at the parking lot in front of Chery’s school building, Ace turned off the car engine and opened his seat belt, before spoke.

    “Besides—I’d take that kiss as a gift for me, from you.” Ace smirked again with the sexy-teasing look on his face.

    Leanne turned her face away from Ace, hiding from him-- just in case she was blushing, it was the right time too for her to pretend to not affected by his words and charm. Even though inside, she’s like had a heart attack when Ace blurted out those words.

    When Leanne walked heading toward him, she can realise that Ace is still observing her-- waiting of how she will respond. Luckily for Leanne who’s already got a bit time to calmed down. So, she acted all cool about it, even though what happened inside her heart is the opposite.

    Leanne rolled her eyes at him and says, “Just cut it out! You’re such a player.” She said with her casual smile, followed by Ace’s charming laugh.

    "Well, did it work?" he said

    "NO!" said Leanne smiling.

    They both and One are heading closer to the school’s front door when the bell rings, and not long after that, Cheryl showed up. She ran and jump out into Ace’s arm, made Ace carry her as usually.

    “Where are we going first?” said Cheryl in excitement.

    “Well first, you gotta say hi first to us. Do I get my hello?” Ace teased Cheryl. Cheryl giggled before speaks. “Hi, hello, hi uncle Ace, Leanne, and One! I’m sorry I forgot. I’m just SO EXCITED!!”

    “Uh-Uh, I’m not gonna spoil the surprises. Now, who’s ready to go?!!” Said Ace dramatically, while Leanne gently took Cheryl’s backpack and lunchbox. Looking at how Ace interact with Cheryl made Leanne realised that Ace is going to be a great dad, someday.

    “ME!!” Cheryl shouted. Even One barks in agreement too.

    “Uh oh, I think Leanne is not up for it.” Ace looked at Leanne, teasing her again.

    “Tell him you’re ready Leanne!” Cheryl whispered. Ace looked amused since he knew that Leanne will respond to Cheryl.

    Leanne raised her both fists, only adults knows that she was sarcastically-optimist when she said, “I’m ready! Yay!” Ace smirked at her in awe without Cheryl’s knowledge, before they headed toward the car—as if they were one small happy family.

    The first place that Ace took them, is a picnic field, a very soothing and beautiful wide field with trees, blue skies, white clouds, flowers, and green grass, makes everything just looks perfect.

    One and Cheryl were already enjoying the grass, running here and there, playing frisbee and all that jazz. While Ace put a blue picnic blanket on the grass for them to sit.

    “If I know you take us for a picnic, I would bring some picnic basket along with the food.” Said Leanne.

    “Worry not, Miss. Our picnic food will arrive soon. Today, all my ladies are only need to relax and enjoy.” He said proudly.

    Leanne already took seat, she crossed her leg in her jeans. “Impressive.” She said, she raised her eyebrow and nodded once in her awe. Once a while Leanne is watching at Cheryl, keeping an eye on her.

    “And this- - is just the beginning.” Said Ace with smile. Leanne smiled a little before stroke her waving hair by the wind, she looked down and try to focus on watching Cheryl. She held back for a second, realising the fact that they’re like in the middle of a date.
