Chapter 7. Accusation
“Oh, didn’t expecting to meet you here.” Said Ace, comes closer to the desk.
“Just checking through some schedules..” Leanne turned the laptop off, and put everything back in order.
“Calvin’s schedules?”
“Yes.” Leanne looked at him while put back her phone in her pocket. Leanne intended to leave the room as soon as possible, but after a few steps, Ace is blocking her way by standing in front of her.
“Is there something I can do to help, Mr. Cade?” said Leanne, she is looking straight at him, she had to looked up, though.
“Ace.” He corrected. “Maybe by telling the real reason of what you’re doing here?”
“I just told you, I’m managing some daily schedules.”
“I meant, the reason you’re working here. In the Cade Mansion, working under my brother’s authority? Did you applied for the job because you knew about my family’s business? ” Ace’s eyes squinted in suspicious.
Leanne was surprised by the fact that hearing his judgemental words about her-- hurt a little inside. But on the outside, she kept her poker face along the way.
“You just don’t like me don’t you, Mr. Cade?”
“I will show you, how much I like you, if you call me Mr. Cade one more time.” Said Ace with his husky voice and his threatening tone at her.
What is that supposed mean?!—Leanne thought inside, she slightly shivered along with feeling her knees weak, and loud thumps of heart beats. So loud she scared that Ace could hear it.
He took a step closer to Leanne, made her stepped back. Her face looked up to his eyes-- showing her steadiness, but her body spontaneously not daring to challenge him.
“I think.. you’ve been working too hard, makes you think that everyone is a criminal.” Said Leanne, she was slightly gasped when she noticed that her waist already pinned on the ledge of the work-desk.
“Hmm.. Let’s not make this about me, Red.” He kept getting closer on her even though their clothes already touched each other, especially his jeans and her skirt. “Besides, a criminal is the one who’s usually avoiding questions.”
Did he just called me, Red?!-- Leanne had to lean her back to maintain the space between their faces. She glanced at the door for a second, even though she can’t run from Ace without being completely guilty, more over to overcome his big body compared to hers. Ace noticed her eyes on the door, and his face says it all—that there’s no escaping him. Ace in the other hand, got carried away by getting too close with her, his darkened eyes are way too dominant.
Leanne licked her lips and gulped before answer. “I-is it hard for you to believe- - that maybe the paygrade here is great?” she looked deep to his eyes, and didn’t blink when she said her words because she knows that liars usually blink too much when they lied.
“They are good people, they accepted me, and it’s a very great opportunity to work under the big name of the Cade family, don’t you think?--” Leanne said with sarcastic tone. She refused to move back her head to admitting his dominance act.
“—Need any more reasons, Mr. –” She hesitated for remembering his previous threat, before say his name in a quieter voice. “--Ace?”
Ace listened while looking thoroughly at her face, her eyes, red-ish cheeks, especially her lips. A part of him disappointed by the fact that she remembered to call his name properly, because now he’s out of reasons to punish her in his own way. Smart answers—He thought.
“That’s enough reasons, unless, there’s still another reason.. like- -Seduction, maybe..?” said Ace while staring at her lips, and licking his own lips.
Leanne’s eyes turned cold instantly. She even moves forward her face, closer—challenging him, made their lips only a few inches away.
“I don’t DO, seduction.” Leanne said frigidly. They were in silence for a moment, locked on each other’s eyes. Except Leanne’s eyes filled with disappointment, anger, and sadness but yet frigidly emotionless at the same time.
“Now if there’s nothing else. I have to prepare dinner, for your date.”
Leanne’s last words were like a splash cold water for both of them. The way Leanne looked at him, as if she had made it clear, that she doesn’t want anything to do with him– or worse. She despises him. As for Leanne, is for saying the words ‘his date’ out loud,— she admitted that someone had him, and he’s not hers to have.
As soon as Ace gradually free her by took a step back away from her, Leanne looked down and fluttered her eyes to covered her glassy eyes, furthermore to prevent her tears to fall.
Leanne swiftly walked out from the room. Why does it bother her so much, anyway? His date, his presence, and why is everything feels so complicated?

Leanne smiled and rubbed Cheryl’s brown hair gently, before open her apron and sat beside her. “I can’t sweety..”
“Why?”
“—Because I will prepare your favourite food from here.. beside your daddy and your uncle will have some guest.” Leanne explained. “Speaking about it, why don’t we change clothes?”
“O-K..” Cheryl hopped from her seats with Linda who’s assisting her.
After a slight checking on her preparation, Leanne decided to freshen up too. She goes to her room, took a quick shower, and put a casual black knitted-bodycon-dress with short sleeves. She put back a simple small-chain-gold necklace with a round pendant on her neck, and pull her hair up into a thick bun hairstyle. She looked at herself in the mirror, preparing herself in one deep sigh, she put her flat shoes and she goes back to the prior dining room.
Leanne is intended to check the dining room for the last time, worrying she might forget something. She was checking on the table plates set up, when she heard a dog’s footsteps comes in.
One heading toward her with its moving tail, as if he’s asking to be loved. Leanne hesitated before slowly rub One’s head, --who knew? This big dog is starting to like her—she assumed.
“Oh, you want to join the dinner too..? I can get you, your bowl. Yes I can.. I’m gonna prepared it right away..” Leanne said while petting One whose seems comfortable with her touch.
“He’s still gonna get dog food only.”
Leanne stand up straight, after she heard the voice that’re very familiar to her; Ace’s voice.
