Chapter Ten: Losing Control

837 Words
I couldn’t think. My mind was a blur of confusion, desire, and the undeniable ache that had settled deep in my bones. I was standing on the edge of a cliff, and Darian’s hand was the one pulling me closer to the fall. We were in his office now. I hadn’t even realized how we’d moved from the bedroom, but the moment he shut the door behind us, the tension thickened. The air felt heavier, and every movement seemed to echo with the gravity of what was happening between us. I could see it in his eyes—the hunger, the fire. It was unyielding, and I was a moth, circling the flame, unable to stop myself. “I told you, you don’t get to run from me, Lena,” he said softly, his voice thick with an edge I’d come to recognize all too well. His hand traced the curve of my jaw, a touch that was almost tender, but I knew better. There was nothing tender about this. Nothing. I swallowed, feeling the weight of his words settle like lead in my chest. “I’m not running,” I replied, though my voice lacked conviction. “I’m just trying to figure out what this is… what we are.” His gaze sharpened, and he stepped closer, closing the space between us with slow, deliberate steps. My heart raced, but I didn’t move. I couldn’t. I was frozen in place, trapped by the intensity of his stare. “You’re mine,” he said again, as though the repetition would make it undeniable, make it something I couldn’t deny, even if I wanted to. I wanted to argue, wanted to push back, but the words wouldn’t come. Instead, I found myself stepping closer to him, as though my body had already made the decision I was too afraid to admit. “I don’t want to be your possession, Darian,” I whispered, but the words felt like a lie the moment they left my lips. Because deep down, I knew—I was already his. He smiled, a dark, predatory grin that sent a shiver down my spine. “You’ve been mine the moment you stepped into my world, Lena. And you don’t have the power to walk away now.” I opened my mouth to argue, to tell him that he was wrong, but before I could speak, his hands gripped my waist, pulling me into him with a force that made my breath catch in my throat. He kissed me then, hard and fierce, with no room for hesitation. His mouth devoured mine, and I had no choice but to give in, my body responding to him as if it had a mind of its own. His tongue traced the curve of my lips, demanding entrance, and I opened for him, losing myself in the depth of the kiss. Darian’s hands moved from my waist to my back, pulling me closer still, until there was no space between us, just the searing heat of his body against mine. My mind was a mess of conflicting thoughts, but one thing was clear: I couldn’t fight this. I couldn’t fight him. “Tell me you need me, Lena,” he growled, his voice rough, edged with the same desire that was burning through me. I hesitated, the words lodged in my throat, but the pressure of his lips, the force of his touch, was too much. Too much. “I need you,” I whispered, the admission slipping out before I could stop it. His smile deepened, and he lifted me effortlessly, carrying me toward the desk in the center of the room. He set me down gently, but the heat in his eyes told me nothing about this would be gentle. “Good girl,” he murmured, his hands sliding under my skirt, sending a wave of heat coursing through me. I gasped as he touched me, the sensation sharp and overwhelming. “Darian…” I whispered, but the words were barely audible. “I won’t stop until you’re mine, Lena,” he said, his hands never leaving my body as he moved closer, his breath hot against my neck. I could feel his need pressing against me, the evidence of his desire undeniable. And even though I knew I should stop, should push him away, all I could do was arch my back, meeting him halfway, desperate for more. His lips found the curve of my neck, his teeth grazing my skin in a way that made my entire body shudder. Every inch of me burned with need, with want, with a hunger that I didn’t understand, but couldn’t ignore. “Tell me you want this,” he demanded, his hands pushing me down onto the desk, his body hovering above mine. “I want this,” I breathed, the words tumbling out before I could stop them. And in that moment, I knew there was no turning back. No escaping what we were becoming.
