Chapter Seventeen: Surrender

1007 Words
I woke to the soft rustle of sheets, the dim light creeping through the curtains, casting shadows across the room. For a moment, I didn’t know where I was, or what had happened. My mind was still tangled in the remnants of dreams—dreams of him. Of Darian. I shifted slightly, feeling the coolness of the room against my skin, and then I noticed the absence beside me. The bed was empty, the warmth he left behind now gone. But I could still feel him. His presence was everywhere, like a haunting, lingering in the corners of my mind. I sat up, my heart pounding, the realization of the night before flooding back. The way he held me, controlled me, took me deeper into his world. His hands, his lips, his voice. I had given myself to him in ways I couldn’t even comprehend. And now, I was his. Completely. The door opened softly, and there he was. Darian. His eyes locked onto mine as he stepped into the room, his gaze intense, his expression unreadable. “You’re awake,” he said, his voice a low murmur, as if he’d been waiting for me to come to my senses. I didn’t respond immediately. I couldn’t. There was so much I wanted to say to him, but none of it felt right. What could I say when he already knew everything? He knew how much I wanted him, how much I needed him, even when I hated myself for it. Darian walked toward me, his steps deliberate, as if every movement was calculated. When he reached the bed, he paused, his gaze never leaving mine. “You look… conflicted,” he said, the faintest smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Don’t be, Lena. You belong to me now.” His words hit me like a physical blow, and for a moment, I couldn’t breathe. There was no escaping it. No running. I had already given myself away, piece by piece, and now there was nothing left to do but accept the inevitable. “You said you wouldn’t break me,” I whispered, my voice trembling slightly. “But I feel like I’m slipping away.” His smirk deepened, and he moved closer, sitting beside me on the bed. He reached out, his fingers brushing against my cheek, his touch sending a wave of warmth through my body. “I never said I wouldn’t break you,” he murmured, his lips hovering near my ear. “I said you’d learn to trust me. To need me. And you’re doing that, whether you realize it or not.” I closed my eyes, trying to block out the conflicting emotions that churned inside me. I wanted to hate him. I wanted to escape his grip, to reclaim myself. But I couldn’t. I needed him more than I wanted to admit. “Lena,” Darian whispered, his voice low and possessive. “You are mine. And when you finally accept that, when you stop fighting me, everything will make sense. You’ll understand that this… this is what you’ve been waiting for.” His hand slid down to my neck, his fingers tightening just slightly, enough to make my pulse race, but not enough to hurt. His touch was possessive and demanding, and it made my body respond in ways I couldn’t control. “I don’t want to fight you,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “I just… I just want to know what you want from me. What this is.” Darian’s eyes darkened as he leaned in, his lips brushing against my ear. “I want everything, Lena. I want you to give yourself to me completely. I want you to surrender.” The word hit me like a punch, and for a moment, I felt dizzy. I wanted to pull away, to run, but the desire to stay—to feel him take me again—was so overwhelming that I couldn’t. “I don’t know if I can,” I whispered, my voice breaking. “I don’t know if I can give you all of me.” He chuckled softly, a sound that sent a chill down my spine. “You already have, Lena. You just don’t realize it yet.” Before I could respond, his lips captured mine in a kiss that stole my breath away. This time, there was no hesitation, no resistance. The kiss was sand low, deliberate like he was savoring me, marking me as his own. His hands slid to my waist, pulling me closer, until there was no space left between us. I felt the heat between us grow, my body responding to him in ways I couldn’t control. He made me forget everything. Forget the fear, the doubts, the part of me that still wanted to break free. All that mattered was him. And the way he made me feel. His kiss deepened, more urgent now, and I felt the darkness of his obsession consuming me. His hands slid under my shirt, his touch hot against my skin as he explored every inch of me. I was lost in him, in the feeling of his hands, his mouth, his power. But there was a part of me—hidden deep inside—that still screamed for freedom. That still whispered that I wasn’t ready to lose myself completely. I tried to pull away, but Darian’s grip tightened, pulling me back into him. His lips moved down to my neck, his teeth grazing against my skin, and I gasped, caught between the desire to escape and the craving to stay. “You’ll never leave me, Lena,” he whispered against my skin, his voice rough and possessive. “You’re mine. Completely.” The weight of his words settled over me like a heavy fog, and for the first time, I realized the truth—I wasn’t just his body. I wasn’t just his possession. I was a part of his obsession. And there was no escaping it.
