Selene had never been a prey so she could never tell how prey felt like. She imagined her heart raced her heard is like a drum warning her of the danger that is closing in. A full body moon casted over her and its luster light passed through the trees skidding as she sprints through those trees. No one understands how fast her legs are moving, not even her self, her eyes losing track of how fast she is really moving. It felt like her wolf instincts were begging her to accelerate but the domineering force known as him, the Alpha, was close.
No wonder the rumors were blunt. The Blackthorn Pack's Kieran Alpha is as merciless as they say and it looks like he has charged his focus on her.
Aside from the quiet of the forest her feet echoing with a beat and leaves every now and then falling out of ripple, everything else felt hollow. She noticed it, comprensively powerful existence and more she moved towards it, this presence was changing. He was concealed, but every single movement of her was monitored. He was eternal.
Her breath quickened, panic surging in her throat. She had received notice. The Alpha wasn’t dangerous for nothing. He was a hurricane waiting to happen. The strength of his being, the scope of his control, and even worse, how every Omega nearby was compelled—compelled to view themselves as mere prey.
The stillness was broken by a crack of a twig. Selene didn’t have time to comprehend the noise before she was yanked off her feet by a strong hand emerging from the shadows. After what felt like moments, she was yanked to face the specter of her greatest fears: Kieran.
With a pose of a hunter preparing to swoop down for a meal, Alpha slung his sharp head over her head, fixing her with a gaze full of wild, unrefined hunger. Her world was topped off by a musky scent that spoke volumes. He smelled heady, almost too overpowering yet satisfying like some rich fragrant food. To Selene’s despair, it made her wolf whimper.
“Your escape had no chance of succeeding,” Kieran snarled as he towered above her. A smile died in the back of her throat as she took in the deep dlsx of his voice wash over her, feeling both excitement and fun.
She felt extremely threatened.
Selene’s heart rate escalated as she was trapped in his arms. He continued to hold her tighter as she struggled. “Let go of me!” she shouted, but her commands did not shatter the tension.
“You don’t get to make the rules here, Selene.” She trembled while trying to distance herself from the warmth of his breath on her neck. Even though she tried to avoid the sparks of irritation his presence generated within her, Kieran was too close for comfort. “You’re mine. And there’s nothing you can do to change that.”
As she continued to fight for freedom, Selene’s thoughts spiraled out of control. And no matter how much she struggled, he was right. With the connection between them bound, stars had already etched their fate. Deep inside, Selene had always known that the Alpha would come to stake a claim on her one day. The outcome, however, was a marking she was bound to never expect. So raw and, brutal.
She could hear the howl of her wolf trapped within her, vacillating between the crippling sensation of being claimed and the strange, alluring attraction to Kieran’s potent force. Forced to breathe the thick, suffocating air made all of this Selene fought, her claws extending towards the ground to propel herself. But Kieran’s swift motions did not allow her to escape. Wrapping his painfully strong grip around her chin, he forced her to gaze at him.
There was something menacing glinting in his eyes. “You’re scared of me, right?”
“No,” she hissed, her voice shaking despite her attempts to keep calm. “I’m scared of who you’ll make me become.”
Cruel smile on his lips. “What you describe as fear is exactly why you need me.” Kieran's grip on her became just loose enough that she could sense the shudder his touch sent through her skin. His fingers trailed to her throat, lightly stroking the soft skin there. “You are yearning for this, Selene. Just not ready to accept that yet.”
Her heart began to skip a beat, her body reacting involuntarily. The bond was impossible to ignore. But it was also a risk. If she succumbed to this urge – to want him to claim her – the consequence would be far too great.
“Ugh you’re such a loser, swirling so much effect on me.” Desperately, she gasped, “I refuse to be your property."
When he drew closer, she saw his golden irises darken. “Selene, you were claiming yourself in another lifetime and don’t even know it.”
In that instant, everything froze and her body felt electrified. The air around them felt like it was bursting with energy and her heartbeat synchronized with the power of his words.
Kieran immediately turned when he heard the faint sound. His hand moved dangerously fast to the side where a dagger—deadly, precise, and cutting— was holstered.
Stop right there,” he said freezing Selene with his icy stare.
Beneath Selene’s protest bubble something audible shifted mercilessly. The penetrating shadow started moving, fighting for mastery over the space—and that is when she knew they were no longer alone.
The gentleness of a summers dusk and deep ocean flooded her being, Kieran said to her one last time with those spirited eyes that seemed to contain so much more than one’s mere impulse. At this sense of something foul, more encapsulation, she was forced onto the ground—in such a rush of blink, he pushed her and.
Grayson and Ella,
Now the meltdown could begin. The world as they knew it changed and shifted.
Dark clouds had started circling and growing. A single scream smashed through the surface of a calm night. With it, a giant ominous and mysterious outline charged their way
Kieran shifted in the blink of an eye; he had turned into an enormous, fierce wolf.
Selene felt her heart beating like a drum as she got off the floor to get a better view of the battle. The Alpha was essentially a tornado, his wolf form a blending of raw strength and agility. But the creature attacking him—darker, stronger—wasn’t just fighting for sport. It was something much more.
There is at least one unspoken rule when it comes to claiming, and for a creature like Selene, claiming wasn’t simple. This was dire, much worse than Kieran’s rage. Surviving the night was a challenge on its own. But when it comes to enduring Kieran’s claim, would she succumb to the perils of
deadly secrets waiting for her just behind the trees?
