CHAPTER SEVEN: THE BLOODLINE AND THE BLADE. The moon was high again—not full but swollen with promise—when Aria heard the voice once more. It wasn’t loud. It didn’t echo through the forest or c***k the sky. It came in a whisper carried on the wind like a memory: “Come daughter of dusk.” Aria stood in the stillness of the sleeping town, barefoot in the grass behind the bookstore. The stars blinked above and the world around her slowed. Her breath caught as the night air thickened, the scent of lavender and smoke twisting into something ancient and weightless. Time bent. Shadows deepened. Leaves froze mid—rustle. And then the world shimmered—and the Moon Goddess stepped forward from nothing. No longer distant and celestial, but near. Soft. Real. Moonlight kissed her silver hair, and her presence filled the air with a gentle hum that made Aria’s bones ache with forgotten strength. The Goddess did not need to speak to be heard, but still, her voice rang like truth made sound. “ You called me back “,Aria said quietly, her throat tight. “No”, the Moon Goddess said.” You called me. You are ready for the truth now.” Aria’s eyes burned. “Truth?” “You mourn the part of you that was lost. Your wolf. But not all blood is gone. Some truths sleep, waiting to be awakened.” The Goddess’s hand extended, palm up, as if offering something unseen. “You are not just a wolf, Aria Blackthorn. You never were.” Aria stepped forward slowly. “Then what am l?” “You are legacy. You are fire. You are the space between wild and will. And there is one who holds the key to what you are becoming—not by strength, but by legacy. A human born of a forgotten bloodline, unclaimed by any pack. He walks among the ordinary unaware of the beast sleeping in his bones.” “Who is he?” Aria asked, her heart beginning to race. “ His name is Eli Duskmoor .” The name hit her like the beat of a war drum—unfamiliar but weighty. Important. The Goddess’s eyes gleamed.” The last heir of a bloodline that once shaped empires—before betrayal buried their name. The Duskmoor line. They were kin to the stars once. Blood forged. Half—wind. And his soul is still marked.” Aria’s hands trembled.”And if I find him what do I do?” “You will have a choice: awaken his wolf…and in doing so , reawaken your own. Not as you were—but as something new. Something born of blood, magic and choice.” Said the Goddess. Aria hesitated. Her voice was a whisper. “ Will I be whole again?” The Moon Goddess stepped forward, close enough for Aria to see the galaxies reflected in her irises.” No “, the Goddess said gently.”But you will be stronger. The wolf you lost was born of fate. The one you claim now will be born of fire.” Aria’s breath caught in her throat. Something warm bloomed in her chest—not comfort. Not clarity. Hope. And then the Goddess vanished into the starlight. The night rushed back in with a gasp—wind, crickets, rustling leaves. Aria stood alone beneath the swollen moon, the weight of a name in her hands. ELI DUSKMOOR. She didn’t know where to begin. But Marley would. The girl knew things—heard whispers in dreams, remembered details like spells. Aria turned towards the bookstore, the first ember of purpose flickering beneath her skin. And for the first time in weeks her steps didn’t drift. They pointed forward. … Meanwhile in crescent Hollow… Logan stood at the edge of the war room, cloaked in shadow. The chamber was lit by low torches, maps stretched across the long wooden table, dotted with black stone and crimson sigils. None of them bore his crest. He’d learned to move in silence now—not out of fear, but strategy. Celeste was always watching, always smiling always playing the long game. But tonight, she thought he was gone and her guards had grown lazy in their trust. He overheard everything. The voices inside were low conspiratorial . Named he didn’t recognize. “She will strike before the season turns.” “Stormwind is blind to what is coming.” “Not for long. The Duskmoor boy has surfaced.” Logan’s jaw clenched “Duskmoor?” The name rang like a ghost bell, a relic from tales buried long before his time. It wasn’t just a name—it was a warning, a weapon, a forgotten prophecy whispered through blooodines and sealed lips. “She found him”, another voice said. A woman’s voice. smooth. Sharp. “The Goddess was seen. The path is opening.” Celeste’s voice followed, calm and cold. “Then the timeline shifts. We move sooner than planned.” Logan’s breath stilled. He knew the tone well—it meant violence was close. “Weapons?” Someone asked. “Already moving. Silver in the north. Ash fire in the south. And the blade…” Celeste paused and Logan could feel her smile even through stone walls. “The blade remembers its master “, said Celeste. A hushed followed. Heavy. Loaded with history and hunger. …. Logan backed away from the door, silent as moonlight. His jaw clenched, heart thudding in his chest like a war drum. He kept his wolf beneath his skin, barely. The woman he had chosen for peace was preparing for conquest. And somewhere, in the wilds beyond the forest, the woman he had rejected—the one that the Goddess chose—was still out there. Still breathing. Still becoming. He did not know what she had become , he did not know if she would ever forgive him. But he knew this: he could no longer sit on his throne while rot crawled through the walls. He would have to choose again. Not as a mate. Not as an Alpha. But as a warrior. Logan turned, slipping back into the hallway, like a shadow. His heartbeat harder now, not with fear-but urgency. The pieces were shifting and Aria was at the center. But she wasn’t the only one anymore. Eli Duskmoor. The name burned behind his eyes. If the Duskmoor heir had truly surfaced-if Aria was awakening something long buried—then the war was not just coming. It had already begun. Logan didn’t know what Aria would actually do when she sees him and he knew that he could never be forgiven for what he did to her. And there were different thoughts in his head about Aria and the Duskmoor’s heir.
