His Scarlet

Chapter Five : Matthew

Matthew Esteban worked hard to build his career to be a politician. Unlike other politicians, he just like to change the system that people work for politics to gain money and power. Of course, power and money come with the responsibility but most if not all that engage in politics was for their own gain. The people were left with poor choices and as a result suffered from poverty, crime and injustice.

Matthew only loved one woman, Scarlet. But after waking up naked together with Mia, Scarlet’s childhood best friend inside a hotel room, he was ashamed of himself.

With Scarlet vanished into thin air, Matthew was left destroyed and heartbroken since all the pictures of him and Mia were scattered on the school paper and bulletin boards the next morning. Matthew did not go after Scarlet since he has no amount of courage to face her. He could not even defend himself on how it happened.

The only thing he remembered from that night was, he was with Mason. Mason was introduced to him as the new member of their brotherhood. As the Supremo of the fraternity in their school, he must introduce Mason to the brotherhood at the club.

In the middle of the party, he saw Mia and asked her to grab a drink. They were enjoying themselves when he started to feel dizzy and ask Mason to take him to the nearest hotel since he already booked a room there in case of too much alcohol intake that he cannot drive home. Mason have followed his instructions.

When he asked mason the following morning, how did Mia come to his room, mason just said that he took him in his room alone. He tried to clear things with Mia, but she has already transferred also to a new school. He wondered whether Mia set him up or did she have feelings for him all this time?

Eight years have past and he still don’t have the answer for this question. He tried to trace up the two but to no vail. He does not belong to a powerful family like Scarlet, so he has no connections at all. He started his career from scratch, and he is very thankful to the brotherhood for helping him crawl from the dirt he landed onto.

With the help of his new partner Mr. Nikolav, a famous lawyer who owned several companies. He easily got the attention and support from the people. Mr. Nikolav saw his struggle and appreciates all the hard work he made as an anonymous charity organizer.

Mr. Nikolav saw his potential and proposed that the government need someone like him and not politicians like senator Zobel. Matthew have great respect for his ex-girlfriend’s father, but everybody knows all the dirty little secrets he hides in his closet.

Only Scarlet, who was blinded by the love Anthony showers her does not believe the truth. With the hope that he can someday get acquainted with Scarlet, he pushed his limits to attain the man he is today.

Matthew received a wedding invitation from Nikolav. Without wasting time, he flew directly to Greece the following morning on the first flight.

Matthew have heard from the brotherhood that Mia have been working as a manager on one of the hotels owned by Mr. Nikolav. Finally, he will be able to clear things up in his mind as to what really happened the night that have destroyed everything he treasures the most.

Upon arriving on the Island, Matthew inquired on what hotel did Mia work at present. He rented a car and nervously went to the address which is not far from the Real Lux Hotel where he stays.

After reaching the said Hotel, he was informed that Mia on that day will be transferred to the Real Lux Hotel since the wedding of the owner will need a lot of manpower to be perfect.

At this point, Matthew is determined to face Mia, and accept whatever explanation Mia has to say about the matter. Eight years have passed but his love for Scarlet never changed. If Mia just tried to frame him, he could now justify himself to redeem his honor to reclaim Scarlet.
