Eve's POV
I didn't know how I slept that morning but I was thankful that I could sleep.
I spent the greater part of the morning tossing and turning in bed thinking what next.
But sadly I came up with nothing.
I wasn't feeling okay.
I felt sick to the stomach.
I wanted to gag myself till I threw up any remnant of him still in my throat.
Normally by this time I would have stood up preparing for work.
I usually went to the club from 7 pm in the evening.
But I just didn't have it in me to move.
I crawled out of bed to the side of the wall where I threw my phone against, picked it up and tried arranging it back.
I needed to call in sick but that goddamn phone wouldn't on.
Goddamnit!! I wanted to scream! I wanted to pull at something!
Anything just to free myself .
I was holding in a lot and I didn't like it.
I felt heavy.
I felt caged.
As I turned to go back to my bed, and maybe continue staring at the ceiling or maybe cry my eyes out, I heard my door bell ring.
I stared at the time 5:40 pm.
It definitely wasn't Elliot. He'd knock by 6:30 not this time.
Except he had come to apologize.
Because I still blame him for all of this.
If only he had not left me. Maybe that man wouldn't had stopped me or maybe he would've left me go.
I stood up, walking my lazy ass to check who it was.
Ding dong!!
Ding dong!!!
The opened the door.
Irritation written all over my face.
I didn't care how I looked.
What could be worse than what I had experienced earlier.
“Hello ma'am” A young man spoke.
He had this dark polo on with a face cap that matched his trousers.
But I didn't order anything…
“Hi” I said flatly. Staring at him, waiting for him to say his reason for coming.
“I was asked to deliver something to miss Eve..”
He brought a dark box out a “coco de mer” logo on it.
I looked at it stunned.
“For… for… me? From who?? ….I didn't order this!”
“He didn't say his name. He just said I should bring it for you.”
It looked super expensive!
I knew I was making money from the job I worked but this? It was way above my means.
He must have noticed the confusion on my face as I signed for the package so he added “There's a letter in it for you”.
I took it as his means of telling me in case I was confused, I could figure out who gifted me from the letter.
I nodded my head “Thank you” and went inside.
Honestly, left for me alone I would never open that box.
I'd just sit here on this sofa and admire it till it aged.
Because this was the height of beauty I had seen.
The colour of the box, the wrapping, everything…. It just made sense.
I ran up straight to my room leaving the box sitting pretty on the dining table as I went to fetch my phone.
I wanted to see if at least there was a message from whoever gifted me, but I forgot it was damaged.
Oh f**k!! I slapped my head.
I turned back and started heading back to where I left the box, only for the door bell to ring again.
“Eve” Elliott shouted from the door outside.
“Yes? I could definitely hear the bell ring”.
My voice was cold as I stood at the door with my hands on my waist. Eyes, sharp and straight, looking at him.
“Common I know you're mad but… something came up.”
“Something more important that you couldn't drop a message”. My voice went higher.
Maybe now he could tell I wasn't joking, because I still didn't have a hint of smile on my face.
“Common… I'm sorry… I'd make it up.”
“I'm not interested….. Do you have any idea that I was abused?"
His eyes widened as I finally said what I had been holding on and trying to forget.
He didn't let me keep talking and just hugged me so tight, it felt warm.
“Who did that?”
“Him. The one I danced for at the bar” I said as I tried to muffle the sound of my sob inside his sweater.
“Shhhh…. Shhh… It's alright”
I stayed on his shoulder for extra few minutes till I was sure I was okay again before I moved back.
“Just got a gift and I don't know who f*****g sent it”
“What's that?”
I moved aside to show the box that still sat pretty on the table.
“Can I…?”
I nodded allowing him to go in.
“A f*****g coco de mer…? And you don't know who?”
“I'm as f*****g surprised as you are. But….”
He turned to look at me, his eyes definitely waiting for me to complete my words.
“There's is a note in it”
“Then open it the f**k up!”
Nothing was funny, but I guess it was the way he looked more confused than I was that made me laugh.
“Chill man!”
Before I could even move close to box he has torn the ribbon off and opened the box.
He brought out the little black square card and handed it to me
“Here!”
I opened it and saw just a single word “9pm”
Something in me told me it was him but I'd try everything I can, to not believe it.
Elliot must have noticed how my face had turned stiff, because he snatched from my hand and read it.
“You don't think its from him right?”
“I don't f*****g know man! I'm as confused”
“First, let's figure out what's inside the box before the panic comes”.
I nodded. I mean what else could I do than nod. I was already beyond terrified.
Elliot opened the wraps till he pulled out a pair of little red lingerie sitting in the box.
At this point I stood looking perplexed.
Anxiety had started kicking in.
I was finding it hard to breath. The walls seemed to be closing in on me.
Every where was turning blur and blur until everything turned pitch black.
I didn't know if I had fallen to the ground or Elliot had caught me before I hit ground level, but I woke up on the couch covered in my blanket.
Elliot stood there waiting patiently for me to open my eyes with a cup of water in his hands.
“Here drink - you need to be hydrated”.
I nodded and took a sip out of the cup
