Chapter 7 - Family Dance Tradition
Duke's POV
When we got to the hotel, Elaine went straight to the hotel room I had arranged for her, without saying anything to me.
I can't blame her; Elaine's mad at me for marrying her instead of her sister Davina, who was my first Fiance until we all learnt Elaine was my bride all along. It wasn't my fault; it was my grandfather's tactic to violate Elaine's grandfather's agreement.
I know it's wrong to feel pleased, but I can't stop myself since, despite her hatred for me, I finally have her as my wife. I'll do my best to make her like me even a tiny bit. Then I'll be content since I'm not supposed to feel glad with what I've done to Elaine.
"Is everything ready in my wife's room?" I questioned the hotel employee before proceeding to my own room.
"Yes sir, don't worry, everything is ready for your wife in her room," the hotel employee assured me as she responded to my question.
" Good," I replied.
I then went to my room to change into more comfy clothing. When I finished dressing, I went to Elaine's room to fetch her since we were going to the reception with all of our guests.
First I knock on her door gently.
" Yes, who is it?" Elaine immediately asked in a cold voice.
" Duke Hayes, are you done changing?" I questioned her again.
"Why are you asking?" She asked in an annoyed voice.
"Well, we need to walk together to the reception area where our guest is," I said to her.
" Well you can go ahead, I am not yet done, " she replied again.
Elaine, I replied silently in my head, I can wait for you even if it takes years for you to love and realize my true affections for you. As I look longingly at the closed door in front of me and reach out to touch it.
" I can wait for you," I said, my words having different meanings than what I am truly thinking about what it means for me."I mean, I'll be outside waiting for you to finish," I nervously clarified to Elaine.
I could hear her annoyance outside the door, and that made me grin a bit. "Fine, I'll be done in a second," she responded.
So I just waited outside the door for her, and after about ten minutes, Elaine opened the door. My breathing had stopped working because of how exquisite and beautiful Elaine looked in the white floral dress she was wearing.
"Hey, is there anything wrong with my face? Because you keep gazing at me," Elaine questioned, her voice concerned and a little irritated.
Yes, something is wrong, but it is not you; it is me. My heart is pounding so rapidly that I'm afraid I'm going to have a heart attack because of your attractiveness. I softly responded to myself.
"Nothing is wrong, I had something on my mind," I said quickly, making an explanation. "So, are you ready to go?" I said.
She simply nodded in response to my question, "and can you move to the side? I can't walk if you just block my path," she irritably requested.
"Oh, sorry," I apologized and stepped aside. Get a grip, God! You're humiliating yourself in front of the woman you married today. I quietly chastised myself for acting strangely since I was taken aback by Elaine's attractiveness.
"Thank you," she replied coldly as she began to go, and I followed her as I began to walk beside her.
We walked silently side by side, minding our own business. But I can't help but notice a lovely aroma in the air emanating from Elaine. I tried not to get sidetracked by how sweet Elaine smelled. That it tempts me to seize her body and kiss her lips fiercely.
I eventually spoke out again when I realized we were almost there. "Even if this marriage is arranged, Miss Cai, can we appear to be happy today?" I said coldly. I didn't want to be cold to her, but I had to.
She simply chuckled at what I said. "Don't worry, Mr. Hayes, I won't humiliate you, and you don't need to remind me about this marriage being arranged since I am fully aware I was forced to marry you," she answered coldly.
Damn it.
As we approached the entrance, where our guests' laughter and chatting could be heard, I gave my arm to her, asking coldly, "Can you put your hand on my arm to demonstrate our happy marriage?"
She didn't say anything and just put her hands on my arm and we immediately went inside together. When we were inside already I could see there alot of people who were my parents' friends and relatives which I am not that familiar with yet that were invited to the wedding.
"Son! Great timing, we're going to do the family dance tradition we do at every wedding celebration," Mother said. " You should both dance it" Mother suggested with excited eyes.
Oh, I completely forgot about our family dancing tradition. I cast a peek at Elaine, who had a perplexed expression on her face. And with hidden special meaning.
"No, I can't dance-" Elaine was speaking to Mother when I stepped in front of her, interrupting what she was about to say.
Without hesitation, I extended my hand to her and asked for a dance, "Can I have this dance with you?" while looking at her vivid cerulean eyes.
Her vivid cerulean eyes met mine with surprise, and I couldn't help but grin at her adorable reaction. I know she can't say no because we're in front of everyone. Elaine will have no choice but to accept my invitation to dance.
"All right," she said, accepting my invitation to dance and placing her hands on my palm. I can feel her irritation in her eyes and just grin, enjoying her reaction once more.
The music began shortly after Elaine placed her hand on mine. I put my arm around her waist to hold her and drew her closer to me, my gaze fixed on her lovely vivid cerulean eyes.
When we started dancing together, it felt as if only the two of us were beautifully dancing while we both peered into each other's eyes, entranced by each other's beauty. It's as if both of us have been cast by a spell that prevents us from looking away from one other.
I wish this moment could stay forever so I could embrace her close to my body and simply stare at her lovely face without thinking about how she despised and was upset at me for what I had done.
I tightened my grasp on her body and drew her closer to me in order to treasure this moment and crave this memory deep inside my head. If my memory serves me well, this family tradition Dance has special meaning for me, and I hope it will grant me one wish for Elaine, even though I know it's impossible, nothing can hurt if I try, right?
I prayed this one in my head with all my heart and soul.
'please be happy Elaine'
