Chapter 16 - loved
Duke's POV
As much as I dislike coming off Elaine's lap, I had to raise my head in annoyance when we arrived at the hospital. And I didn't anticipate Elaine to let me stay on her lap while we drove silently to the hospital, which made me smile discreetly.
Elaine nudges my body to stir me up, saying, "Hey, wake up, we've arrived at the hospital."
And because I wanted to tease her I didn't open my eyes and continued to pretend to sleep in her lap comfortably.
"Are you really not going to wake up?" she said, nudging my body harder this time.
My body almost slid off the seat, but I pretended that I had just awoken from a nap and stared at Elaine's displeased face, which I hadn't expected to be so close to mine. As we both look at each other, my body freezes.
