SEASON 2 OF CHASED BY CHAOS Chapter 1: Trouble Never Texts First

283 Words
‎ ‎Lia learned something important after the chaos ended: peace was suspicious. ‎ ‎Life had been quiet for weeks. Too quiet. No explosions. No running. No mysterious tech humming in her bag. Just school, work, and the occasional coffee with Kai—who had somehow turned “former criminal” into “government consultant,” which still sounded illegal to her. ‎ ‎They sat in their usual café, arguing about who paid last time. ‎ ‎“You paid,” Kai said confidently. ‎ ‎“I paid emotionally,” Lia replied. ‎ ‎He laughed—and then his phone buzzed. Once. Twice. Then nonstop. ‎ ‎Kai’s smile faded. ‎ ‎“That’s not good,” Lia said. ‎ ‎“Depends,” he answered slowly. “How do you feel about road trips?” ‎ ‎Before she could respond, the café windows rattled. Outside, black cars screeched to a stop. ‎ ‎Lia stood instantly. “I KNEW peace was fake.” ‎ ‎Men poured out, familiar uniforms, new weapons. ‎ ‎Kai grabbed her hand. “They found me.” ‎ ‎“Us,” she corrected. ‎ ‎They ran out the back, dodging tables and screaming customers. ‎ ‎“Did you steal something again?” Lia yelled. ‎ ‎“No!” ‎ ‎She glanced at him. “I don’t believe you.” ‎ ‎He grinned nervously. “Okay, maybe I borrowed something dangerous.” ‎ ‎Lia groaned. “Season two is worse already.” ‎ ‎But even while running, she squeezed his hand tighter. ‎ ‎Chaos didn’t text first. ‎ ‎It just showed up.
