MY ALPHA FATHER'S BEST FRIEND 11

1037 Words
MAYA I force my eyes open, looking at him. “I’m a virgin, Damon. I’ve been saving myself. For you.” The look on his face is somewhere between awe and agony. “Maya. f**k. You can’t…” “I can. I did.” I rock my hips, taking his finger deeper. “I only want you. Only ever wanted you.” He makes this rough sound, almost a snarl, and suddenly he’s kissing me again, hard and possessive. His finger pumps in and out of me while his thumb circles my c**t, and I’m so close already, wound so tight. “Come for me,” he growls against my mouth. “Let me feel you.” He adds a second finger and that’s all it takes. I come apart, gasping his name, my whole body shaking. He works me through it, his fingers gentling as the waves of pleasure wash over me. When I can finally breathe again, I open my eyes to find him watching me with an expression so intense it steals my breath all over again. “Beautiful,” he murmurs. “So f*****g beautiful.” He slowly withdraws his fingers and brings them to his mouth, sucking them clean. The sight makes my core clench all over again. “Best thing I’ve ever tasted,” he says, his voice rough. Then reality seems to crash back in. He steps back, running his hand through his hair. “We can’t do this again,” he says, but it sounds hollow now. “I shouldn’t have—f**k, Maya, I shouldn’t have touched you.” I pull my hoodie closed, zipping it up. “Why? Because of my dad? Because I’m younger than you? Give me one good reason.” “Because when I claim you—and I will claim you, if we keep going down this path, it’ll be forever. Complete bond. Marking. Everything. And I don’t know if you understand what that means.” “I understand perfectly.” I step closer to him. “It means you’d be mine and I’d be yours. It means we’d be mates. Bonded for life.” “It means your father would probably exile me from the pack. It means other Alphas would question my judgment, my ability to lead. It means pack politics and alliances would shift. It means everything would change.” “I don’t care about any of that.” “I know you don’t. But I do. I have responsibilities. A pack that depends on me. I can’t just…” He stops, shaking his head. “This is exactly why I shouldn’t have come here.” “But you did come. Because you can’t stay away from me any more than I can stay away from you.” He doesn’t deny it. Just stands there looking torn apart. “I need to go,” he finally says. “Before I do something we’ll both regret.” “I won’t regret it.” “Maya…” “No. Listen to me.” I grab his hand, holding tight. “I know this is complicated. I know there are obstacles. But I also know that what we have doesn’t come along often. My mom told me once that sometimes the moon has plans we don’t understand. Maybe this is one of those times.” He looks at our joined hands, then at my face. “You’re too young to understand what you’re asking for.” “Stop saying that. I’m eighteen, I’ve had my first shift, I know my own mind. Stop treating me like a child.” “Then stop acting like one!” His voice rises, frustration bleeding through. “You’re playing with forces you don’t fully understand. The mate bond isn’t a game, Maya. Once it’s complete, there’s no going back. Ever. You’d be tied to me for the rest of your life.” “Isn't that good? That’s what I want.” “You say that now. But what about in five years? Ten? When you’re watching your friends mate with wolves their own age, having pups, living normal lives…” “I don’t want a normal life. I want you.” He closes his eyes like he’s in pain. “You’re going to be the death of me, little wolf.” “Or the making of you.” A ghost of a smile crosses his face. Then it fades. “I have to go. Your father will wonder where I wandered off to— I've been gone too long.” “You didn’t tell him you were coming?” “Of course not. As far as he knows, I’m at my pack house dealing with territory issues.” My stomach sinks. “So this is it? You’re just going to leave again?” “I don’t have a choice.” “You always have a choice.” He pulls his hand from mine, and the loss of contact makes my chest ache. “I’ll see you around, Maya.” “When?” “I don’t know. Soon.” “That’s not an answer.” “It’s the only one I have.” He climbs into his truck, and I stand there watching him. Helpless. Frustrated. Before he can drive away, I knock on his window. He rolls it down, eyebrow raised. “The next pack meeting is in five days,” I say. “You’ll be there, right?” “Probably.” “Then I’ll see you there.” “Maya…” “Five days, Damon. And I’m not giving up on this. On us.” He looks at me for a long moment. “I know you’re not. That’s what scares me.” Then he’s driving away, leaving me standing at the north gate in nothing but a hoodie, my body still humming from his touch. But this time I’m not sad. This time I’m determined. He wants me. He admitted it. And I felt the way he touched me, like he was afraid I’d disappear. Five days until the pack meeting. Five days to come up with a plan. Because I meant what I said. I’m not giving up on us. Not now. Not ever.
