We arrive at the Sterling Office underground parking lot. Imagine if there were no where to park because we had to be there in ten minutes before the briefing start.
Of course Serena thinks of herself and says she will go upstairs and tell them i will be there. But i am looking for a parking spot.
Don’t say no to that because i can’t handle the chatter right now either
I’m still searching and only have five minutes left. I don’t know what’s worse the skirt i’m wearing or the fact that i won’t make it.
Lord please help me before i am fired
The boss is really on top of things. Because the precious employee, who was two minutes late was also commend to leave immediately.
Everyone was in schock and afraid to say anything. No one wanted to lose their jobe.
What a relief, because look an empty spot! I immediately parked my car, grabbed my bag and put on my blazer. I ran to the elevator in heels and pressed the button several times in a hurry.
Within a minute the elevator made a noice and arrived. I could breath immediately because there were only three minutes left. Suddenly i heard a deep voice, “ Stop the elevator”. I froze at first, but luckily i reacted quickly and stopped the elevator.
Not knowing what awaited me. Because who knew Julian would reach out his hand to stop the elevator from closing.
Thanks, Julian said and stepped into the elevator. He was about to press the button, but saw it had already been pressed.
Then he looked at me longer than necessary. As if Julian didn’t know it was me. I’ve been working at his company for a year now and he hired me himself because the recruiter was away at the time.
The elevator began moving toward our floor, but Julian didn’t look away. He glanced at me from top to bottom and smiled. But that was short-lived as he suddenly started blinking frequently.
Started chuckling and said good morning Riley. You look different than usual.
I had nothing to say after he said that. I was more in schock about the whole interaction because what did it mean? A complete change when he knew it was me.
The elevator was on our floor and Julian walked out and said, “Come on “ i don’t like it when people are late. Even if you held the elevator for me. There are no exceptions. He didn’t even look at me and just kept walking
Wow that man’s audacity too. Not only my sister but also my boss wished me a good morning. Even though it’s work we have a good relationship with all the employees and see each other more as employees.
I ran after him to go to the room where we all sit for a meeting about the day and how we are doing with everything.
The company deals with things like economics. I work as a data analyst and my sister works in the social media team.
Sammy waves at me and i start walking towards her before Julian begins his morning mantra. We work together in the analysis department.
She wanted to tell me something but Julian starts with “Good morning everyone “, before we start. We say and everyone starts saying together.
“ We start with focus
We work with discipline
We take responsibility
We support each other
We deliver quality
Today we move forward”
Julian then went to each department to ask where everyone were and how far everything was. If there were problems etc.
Mark started talking for our department. He told there was an error in one of the papers. That had been submitted.
The persons concerned had been approached and arrangements were being made and more information will be available by the end of the day.
Julian went through everyone and when the briefing was finished everyone went to their own section and left the room
Sammy and i walked together to our department and she said i looked really good in my oufit but before she could say more Mark asked if i wanted to walk with him to his computer.
I didn’t know whether to be nervous or wait and see what this was about. Mark and i don’t talk outside of work, so it’s nothing personal. I had no idea what to think.
What made it worse was the silence as we walked to the computer. Mark is a eighthy four year man with more than enough experience in data analysis. Mark is our team manager
When we arrive at his computer, i see my analysis on the computer and the client’s papers on the desk.
Ooohh no, that’s what i initially thought. The data error came from me and i immediately asked Mark what was wrong. I re-evaluated it three times before sending it to Mark yesterday.
The problem was that i put the wrong paper next tot the wrong analysis, wich is where the confusion is today. Fortunately Mark saw it but i don’t know where it went wrong.
I looked at Mark and couldn’t help but thank him and apologize for the mistake. I’ll do better next time.
Mark could only smile and pat me on the shoulder. He said it could happen to anyone and to be careful next time.
It’s been noted and is being updated to resolve the issue. Mark returned to his work and i went to my desk.
Started continued with my other data analysis that i was working on and answering emails.
Sammy thankfully showed up with a cup of coffee. I don’t know if i wanted to kiss her for the gesture, but i was certainly grateful.
She wondered why i was called. An explanation that the error was my fault and thankfully fixable. Sammy could hardly believe it, as i haven’t had a single error in the year i’ve been working.
