"Peerless Blade? Stealth?" Brian's mind echoed with the unfamiliar name. He couldn't help but wonder, what kind of weapon was this?
As the notification chimed, he opened the system space. A faint blue screen appeared, displaying a black and gold Tang sword over a meter long.
[Stealth]
[Type]: Tang Sword
[Quality]: Grade 1
[Characteristics]: Incredibly sharp, cuts through hair with ease, slices through iron like mud...
Brian looked at the attributes of the Tang sword, feeling both surprised and fortunate. While the Tang sword wasn't familiar to him, when facing zombies, as long as the sword was fast and accurate, it would be enough. Compared to firearms, he preferred this kind of melee weapon. Moreover, the sharpness of the Tang sword filled him with awe.
Gripping the handle, Brian felt a cold touch, as if he had formed a connection with the weapon. He gently swung it, a silver chill flashed, and a cold sensation swept over him, filling him with joy.
The Tang sword was not only splendid in the system interface but also practical and powerful in his hands. With it, Brian's confidence soared. Even if his lightning energy was depleted, he could still face the threat of zombies safely.
Securing the scabbard, he stood on the sky bridge overlooking the campus, his eyes full of zombie figures. The teaching building was filled with the smell of death, but he decided to change his original plan. Instead of hiding on the safe rooftop and waiting, he would face the danger head-on, using the Tang sword to clear out the zombies and make the administration building his stronghold.
At this moment of the apocalypse, Brian decided to pursue strength, power, and survival, no longer waiting to die. With the Tang sword in hand, he confidently embarked on the path forward.
...
3th floor of the administration building, Kendo Club.
The Kendo Club was quiet, as if time had frozen. A slender, graceful girl knelt on the floor, her eyes filled with worry and confusion.
"Announcement to all students! Announcement to all students, unknown riots have occurred on campus. Please find safe areas and wait for rescue. Repeat! Please find safe areas and wait for rescue!" The broadcast echoed in the Kendo Club.
The girl slowly opened her eyes, a hint of alertness in her pupils. Riots? Her heart sank suddenly.
Just then, the door of the Kendo Club was pushed open. A boy in a black student uniform appeared at the door, sweating profusely, his face filled with fear.
"Sister Aihara, run! There are monsters in the school, everyone has turned into monsters, run!" the boy shouted incoherently.
Suddenly, a roar sounded, and a shadow pounced on the boy at the door, biting his neck.
"Ah!" The boy let out a scream of agony.
Seeing this, Rina Aihara immediately reacted, wielding a wooden sword and swiftly striking at the zombie's head.
"Splat!" The zombie's head exploded, blood splattering.
The boy climbed up in terror, looking at Rina Aihara with fear, his expression painful, muttering to himself.
"What's your name?" Rina Aihara asked calmly.
"I... I'm Matsunaga Hisahide," the boy answered tremblingly.
Taking a deep breath, Rina Aihara didn't hesitate, swinging the wooden sword and ending Matsunaga Hisahide's suffering.
Rina Aihara picked up her nearby loafers and quickly left the Kendo Club.
"Auntie, wait for me, you must wait for me!"
.......
"Roar!"
"Splat!"
The deep growls of the zombies echoed, followed by the sound of flesh tearing apart. A grotesque head flew into the air, blood spraying, as the headless corpse stumbled and collapsed to the ground.
"[Killed ordinary zombie, points +1, current points 62]"
The notification rang in Brian's mind as he stood at the end of the third-floor corridor, glancing down at the body beneath his feet. Drops of black blood fell from the tip of his Tang sword to the ground.
Turning around, he saw the hallway stretching for over a hundred meters, littered with zombie corpses in all directions.
After dealing with all the zombies on the third floor, Brian breathed a sigh of relief. With a thought, the attribute panel appeared before him.
[Tier]: 0th Tier
[Points]: 62 points
[Items]: Stealth
[Ability]: Lightning Ability Lv1
[Energy]: 4/50
[Lightning Ability]: Current Level Lv1, Experience needed for upgrade 33/100.
This was Brian's first time activating the system and opening the attribute panel after gaining the lightning ability, and compared to before, his attributes had nearly doubled, all thanks to the lightning ability's enhancements.
Looking at the attributes before him, Brian pondered. Was he considered a superhero now? Then why was he still at Tier 0?
"System, what's the deal with this Tier? How do I break through to Tier 1?" Brian inquired.
Upon hearing Brian's question, the system promptly replied, "Host, to break through to Tier 1, any attribute needs to exceed 20 points."
Any attribute exceeding 20 points?
Brian glanced at the attribute panel. His highest was only 16 points. He still had a ways to go.
"System, how can I break through to Tier 1? Are there any requirements?" Brian asked.
"There are three methods in total," the system explained. "The first method is to consume points to enhance attributes. The second method is to advance the lightning ability, which will in turn enhance attributes. The third method is to purchase gene potions from the system store, which, when consumed, will enhance the four attributes based on individual constitution."
Brian's interest was piqued upon hearing about these three methods. "System, please provide detailed explanations of these three methods."
"The first method involves consuming 10 points to enhance any attribute by 1 point. The second method allows you to exchange points for ability upgrade experience at a ratio of 1:1. The third method involves consuming 100 points to purchase a primary gene potion, which, when consumed, will enhance the four attributes based on individual constitution."
The system's detailed explanation made Brian's heartbeat quicken. These three methods were all quite powerful!
However, compared to the latter two methods, enhancing attributes with points seemed like a waste.
Spending 10 points to enhance 1 attribute point, or 100 points for 10 points, was much less efficient than using points to upgrade the lightning ability or purchasing primary gene potions. With those options, he could gain more than just 10 points!
In comparison, enhancing the lightning ability seemed more reliable!
Of course, it was only relatively more reliable!
He hadn't forgotten that the system had just mentioned a system store. Going by the conventions of system novels, the store would definitely have a lot of good stuff, even lightning abilities could probably be purchased with points.
Killing zombies to gain points was not worth it.
"Hitting the nail on the head!"
"System, open the store for me."
As soon as he finished speaking, a faint blue screen appeared before Brian's eyes. Upon closer inspection, the store was full of items, almost overwhelming him.
[Abilities], [Bloodlines], [Weapons], [Techniques], [Items] – five categories in total. The Abilities category appeared first in the interface.
[Ice Ability]: Purchasing grants ice elemental power, capable of releasing ice abilities, starting level Lv1, purchase points 100,000.
[Lightning Ability]: Purchasing grants lightning power, capable of releasing lightning abilities, starting level Lv1, purchase points 150,000.
[Light Ability]: Purchasing grants light power, usable for both attack and healing, starting level Lv1, purchase points 200,000.
......
[Destruction Power]: Purchasing grants destruction power, capable of destroying everything, starting level Lv1, purchase points 10 million.
[Chaos Power]: Purchasing grants chaos power, capable of using chaos magic, creating creatures out of thin air, and destroying everything, starting level Lv1, purchase points 90 million.
While the items in the front seemed reasonable, the more Brian looked at the back, the darker his face became.
10 million? 90 million?
Are you serious?
Though Brian understood that powers like destruction and chaos were awesome, weren't these points a bit outrageous?
Even if he bought them, they'd only be Lv1, and who knew how many levels he'd need to create something out of thin air with chaos power? At most, with the initial chaos power, he could only create some useless trinkets or a knife. Forget about anything powerful.
But Brian had also gained some insight. There were indeed good things in the system store, and using points to enhance attributes or experience was not wise!
"System, don't you think I'm broke? I've been fighting for so long, and I only have 62 points. How am I supposed to afford anything in the store? Have you thought about this?" Brian lamented!
He was really lusting after everything in the store!
But!
He was truly broke!
Although killing zombies could earn him points, but....
With tens of thousands, how long would he need to kill to accumulate enough?
"Ding! Issuing random task: Occupy the administration building, clear out all the zombies inside. The task is limited to 3 hours. Completing the task will reward 500 points."
Huh?
What?
