CHAPTER 24
Tracy let out a low whistle and muttered, “About damn time,” as the kiss flamed hot enough to singe the rest of them sitting around the table. The noise in the room dropped dramatically as people realized there was drama unfolding. Of course, it got quiet just in time for Isaac’s louder-than-intended “What the hell?” to carry through the whole bar.
Lucas dropped his forehead to Shannon’s and closed his eyes for a second. “What are the odds when I open my eyes all I’m going to see is your brother’s fist?”
Shannon laughed and shifted so she was in front of him, facing Isaac. “Don’t worry. I’ll protect you from my big, bad brother. Besides, it was just a kiss.”
Just? Oh, man. If that kiss looked anything like what it felt like from the inside, there wasn’t a person in the room who didn’t know they were sleeping together. It was all fire and teeth and tongues and left absolutely no doubt in anyone’s mind. Shannon and Lucas were together.
And he didn’t mind that one bit.
Lucas reached out and took Shannon’s hand in his, needing the contact and the reassurance that she was with him. Publicly. Together they could take on anything. Or anyone.
He stared at Isaac.
Isaac stared right back. “How long?”
“Well, I’ve been in love with her since about five minutes after we met. So… eight years, give or take.” He winked at Shannon as her head whipped around. “The rest? None of your damn business.”
Isaac gave him a nod and pulled him into a hug. He whispered in Lucas’s ear, “You hurt my sister and you’ll wish you’d never been born.”
“Agreed. If I lost her, that’s exactly how I’d feel.”
Shannon gave her brother a hug and grabbed Lucas’s hand. “Good night, everyone. We’ll talk to you tomorrow. Don’t call us, we’ll call you.” They were halfway out the door before he realized what was happening.
And while he was seriously hungry, he figured it would be quite some time yet before dinner was going to be his priority.
All he really needed was Shannon. And it looked like he had her.
