CHAPTER 4: THE SERVANT AND THE MISTRESS

The surgery was a success. It was long, difficult, and complex, but I was the best. I operated on his legs, repaired the damaged nerves, cleared the infection, and reconstructed the tissues. For weeks, I monitored his recovery personally. I made sure he was healing perfectly. I gave him back his health, his strength, and his ability to walk. But while I healed his body, I began the work on his heart and his pride. I moved them — Sebastian and Doña Solana — into my own mansion. It was a modern, magnificent estate, far grander and more luxurious than Villa Montecillo ever was. But they did not live in the master suites. They lived in the servant’s quarters. Just like I did. Every morning, Sebastian woke up at 5:00 AM. Just like I used to. He cooked my breakfast, served it to me, bowed his head, and waited for me to finish. Just like I used to. He washed my clothes, polished my shoes, cleaned my cars, scrubbed the floors, and carried my bags. Just like I used to. Every time he entered a room where I was, he would not speak until spoken to. Every time I looked at him, he would lower his eyes in respect. Every time I told him to kneel, he would drop to his knees instantly, without hesitation. He was handsome again, healthy again, strong again... but he was broken. He was humble. He was mine. And Doña Solana? She lived comfortably, treated like a guest of honor, loved and respected by me. She was happy to see her son alive, even if he was a servant. She was happy to see me powerful and successful. She watched everything with a soft smile, knowing that justice was being served. One evening, I sat in the garden, drinking wine and watching the sunset. Sebastian approached me quietly, carrying a cushion and a glass of water. He knelt beside me, placing the cushion under my feet, just as I used to do for him years ago. He looked up at me. His eyes were full of love, deep and genuine. There was no arrogance left. No pride. Just pure devotion. "Is there anything else you need, Mistress?" he asked softly. The word Mistress rolled off his tongue naturally now. I looked down at him. The man who once owned everything, who once ruled a province, who once called me trash... was now resting his head against my knee, looking at me like I was his God. "You hate this, don't you?" I asked coldly. "You hate being a servant. You hate serving the girl you once threw away." Sebastian shook his head immediately. He held my hand and kissed my palm. "I love it," he whispered. "I deserve this, Arya. Every moment of this is payment for every tear you shed. Every time I kneel, I feel lucky. Because you are here. Because I am alive. Because I belong to you." He looked deep into my eyes. "I thought being rich and powerful was everything. I thought being above everyone was happiness. But I was wrong. True happiness is serving the person you love. True happiness is being at your feet. I would rather be your servant and see you smile, than be a King and have you hate me." He leaned closer, his voice trembling with emotion. "I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you, Arya. I will endure every punishment, every cold word, every order you give. Until the day you decide... maybe... just maybe... you can love me again. Not as your master. But as your servant. As your man." I looked away, my heart pounding. I wanted to stay cold. I wanted to stay angry. But seeing him like this — broken, humbled, and completely devoted — something inside me shifted. I remembered the past. I remembered his cruelty. But I also remembered the kindness of his mother. I remembered how far I had come. And I realized something important. Revenge was sweet. Seeing him kneel was satisfying. But making him love me, truly and humbly, was the ultimate victory. I stood up and walked towards the house. Sebastian scrambled up to follow me, ready to serve my every need. "Come," I said over my shoulder, without looking back. "It is late. Walk with me." Sebastian’s face lit up with pure joy. He hurried to my side, walking slightly behind me, exactly where he belonged. From Maid to Mistress... I had come a long way. I had risen from the dirt to the stars. I had taken everything they had, and I had given it back tenfold. Sebastian Montecillo was free, healthy, and alive... but he was no longer his own man. He was mine. And Doña Solana, the kindest soul in the world, was safe and loved. This is my story. This is the truth of Villa Montecillo. And this is how the maid returned... to become the only Mistress he will ever serve for the rest of his life.
