Chapter Ten

Kayden was immediately treated as soon as I walked into the hospital with him, he was still inside the hospital room but his condition was dangerously critical.
Hunter gulps as he stares at the wall in front of him lifelessly, as if someone had drained him of everything he had ever done. I look at his crestfallen expression and frown.
His phone starts to vibrate, he doesn't even seem to notice. He was drained of everything he had ever had to even think about his phone. His phone vibrates once more.
Hunter grabs his phone and throws it against the wall in front of him, he takes a deep breath before leaning his head on to the wall behind him.
His phone smashes into pieces.
"I could've taken the bullet." he chokes out, his head hung low. It wasn't his fault, he just didn't realise- Quinn had already shot Kayden before Hunter could've done anything.
"My fault, it's all my fault." he mutters, his voice was raspy from all his screaming, he couldn't believe it.
"It's not your fault," I say taking a seat next to him on the floor. "It's Quinns." Hunter shook his head, he took the complete blame.
"I let him get shot, twice as well- he still hasn't woken up yet." Hunter clenches his jaw in frustration as he runs his hand through his hair.
"Let's hope he gets better." I look at Hunter, he doesn't look me in the eyes- I turn away looking at the ground.
Hunter faces his body towards me, his steely eyes meeting mine, "It's not the matter of hope anymore. There's no chance he could've survived those bullets."
"That's your problem Hunter, you assume that things won't turn out right: why can't you hope for the best?" I ask him, he glances at me- his expression was anger mixed with annoyance.
"I stopped believing in hope a long time ago," he says icily, I slightly shiver at his tone as he hands me something.
"Your phone." he states his voice raspy.
My phone then vibrates, I frown.
Hunter closes his eyes once more, he hasn't slept ever since he helped Isaac transfer to another hospital.

I felt powerless, this X person seemed to crawl under my skin for some odd reason. Fear is what X wants and fear is what I shouldn't emit.
"You should find the rest of the clues." Hunter murmurs, i found it rather amusing that Hunter anticipates me to find the last two clues.
He observes me for a split second before even muttering his next words.
"Perhaps it would be best if you and me don't talk, the more we talk the more you'd want to know me- once you find out the truth I'd doubt you'd even want to be near me." he informs, it was courageous of him to say so.
"But as I find the clues X would be watching, I would be defenceless to whatever X is planning." I look at Hunter, he doesn't seem to meet my gaze.
"It's only a matter of time Ka- I find out who X is." Hunter responds in a diminutive voice, he glances towards the direction where Kayden laid on his hospital bed. Hunter seemed futile, he doesn't think Kayden will make it.
"How do I find the fourth clue?" I ask Hunter, I found out the first clue which was a rose, the second clue was destruction and the third clue was the locket, which stated 'Till the last petal falls.'
Hunter notions,"The fourth clue is with a person who is from our rival school, Starkville high." He seems to omit something out, there was something that he wasn't telling me.
"What's his name?" I glance at him, wanting him to disclose what he's hiding.
He conceals his expressions effortlessly, it was hard to determine what he was feeling.
"Cassiel."
"I don't know how he looks like nor do I know him, how am I meant to look for him?" I question, Hunter's eyes bore into mine.
"You'll know who he is tomorrow, he's the star quarterback of Starkville high- they're coming to our school in order to defeat us in a game of football." Hunter says hastily as if he was trying to rush our conversation.
"I'm perplexed, how do I get a clue from some football player?" I ask, Hunter laughs in fake gratification.
"He's not just any football player, he holds a vast amount of power and knowledge." he explains.
"What's his full name?"
"Cassiel Black."
