"What?" I look at the message on my phone, my eyes wide open and jaw dropped on to the floor. He couldn't have, he couldn't have died.
Several people turn to look at me, right I forgot I was at a party for a moment. I walk towards the area where there was a mini bar and take a seat.
The bartender looks at me as he cleans a glass, "What would you like love?" I sense a hint of British accent as he speaks. I look at the collection of drinks.
"Just water." I finally say, if I had drank at this moment of time it wouldn't be right- since I don't have anyone I know.
The bartender raises his eyebrows in shock, I narrow my eyes at him. "Is that it?" He enquires slightly confused. Stupid bartenders and their questions.
"That is it." I confirm with my teeth gritted, my head hurt a lot- I'm just overthinking the issue. How could Kayden be dead?
"You drink?" I hear the stool next to me move, i tilt my head to the left to only find Cassiel Black.
"I don't." I respond to him curtly, his stormy eyes examine me as I lean on the table in front of me.
"You seem, annoyed." He says timidly, not wanting to expand on his sentence- perhaps feared by what I would say.
"I'm not, just ignore me- it's usually how I act." I inform him as he smirks, he exhales dramatically as he looks at the bartender.
"Two shots of whiskey." Cassiel murmurs to the bartender, the bartender places my glass of water in front of me.
I grab it to take a sip, the cold liquid slid down my throat. After drinking the water I felt a lot more relaxed.
The bartender places the two shots of whiskey in front of Cassiel.
Cassiel moves one of the shots towards me, I look at him perplexed as he gestures me to take a sip.
"I don't drink." I state bluntly, he looks at me before sighing.
"Don't you ever feel like releasing your annoyance? Why don't you take one shot, it's not like you'll get drunk easily." Cassiel coaxes, I look at him before grabbing the shot.
"Easy there, don't take it too fast." He tells me.
I drink the shot, the liquid slides down my throat as it burns. I squeeze my eyes shut due to the drink.
"That was actually good." I look at him, he throws me a half smile.
"Told you, don't you feel better?"
"I actually do." I say grabbing my phone from the pocket of my high waisted jeans. It was time for me to get rid of irrelevant distractions.
I look at the unknown contact, I press block. Finally, no more texts from X. I look at Cassiel who was on his phone texting someone.
"Would you like to dance?" I look at him, he smirks grabbing my hand.
"Can you dance?" He questions as we both walk towards the dance floor.
"Lucky for you, I can." I answer confidently as he pulls me closer towards him.
"Lucky for you, I can too." He whispers as he spins me around.
He places his hands around my waist, I place my arms around his neck.
Cassiel dropped his eyes momentarily before looking at me, "You're not bad, I mean you stepped on my foot about ten times, but you're alright."
"Thank you, you're not bad either." I say, Cassiel shook his head.
"I'm clearly really good."
"You're clearly not." I laugh as he looks at me, "Don't worry we both know who is better dancer." he states releasing his grip on my waist.
Suddenly I felt colder, the warmth from his hands were gone.
"What school are you from Isabelle?" Cassiel looks at me, slightly interested. He probably realised that I wasn't from his school at all.
"Greyston." I respond, he nods his head.
"We're rival schools and if anyone knew that we hung out in this party- it would be bad for the both of us." Cassiel tells me, it was true. Two people from rival schools aren't meant to be hanging out together.
"You're right." We both walk back towards the area where there were drinks.
"However, we could be friends still- but nobody really has to know which school you're from and I'm from." He tells me as he takes a seat on the stool.
"So what you're saying is, you'd like to be friends with me? Even if I'm from your rival school?" I enquire, we were getting somewhere: I wonder how I'd find the fourth clue from him.
He seemed very closed off.
"Right, but nobody other than your friends has to know." he informs me as I nod my head.
That's great but my friends at the moment are super dodgy at the moment and they are one of my cousins friends- the cousin who attempted to kill me.
"Sure." I respond to him, he throws me a ghost of a smile.
Perfect. I have Cassiel as a friend now, as time goes on I could slowly figure out the fourth clue and then I'd be able to find out the fifth clue.
Then that would lead me to finding out the truth.
And I could finally make an attempt to stop whatever X has in store for me.
