I’m poring over Pinterest, looking at flooring and saving off photos I can run by Cheryl just as soon as she learns her lesson, when the phone rings. I’m running late for a committee meeting for the Spring Carnival at the kids’ school, and now there’s this to deal with. Repairs and insurance people and a captive I’m refusing to speak to. She needs a few days to think about what she’s done. To remind her how good I’ve been to her, to see what she’s missing out on. Ever since the flood incident, the phone hasn’t stopped ringing, it’s all contractors, repairmen and our insurance agent. Quite frankly, I’m tired of talking to people. I decide to let it go to voicemail but then it starts again. This time, I check the number on the screen. It’s the school, and I’m guessing it isn’t about the car
