CHAPTER NINETEEN KATE I wake with a start, clutching my chest, defensively. My stomach turns, and I sit up, thinking I might be sick. I survey the room, in search of something to vomit into. Instinctively, I feel for my neck, and then I shake my head, reflexively trying my best to shake off the dream. But even more so, trying to rid myself of the images in my mind. It doesn’t work, and there are dozens of them, flashes of images. Your hands around my neck, your expression as you hold me under water.
