Summery of chapter 8
Yon and his friends launched an attack on Zei and his forces. Turns out Zei was hiding a big machine to defend himself. Yin gets knocked out and thrown and everybody's hope starts fading. Is Yin even alive? What will happen next?
Scene 1
Location: the cave where the badgermole put Yin in
*Yin is still unconscious and probably dead. Nova and Niko come to the cave, the badgermole hisses at them*
Niko: don't worry buddy, we're here to help, we are Yin's friends
*the badgermole steps aside to let them get to Yin. They both go to Yin. Nova bends healing water to see his state then looks at her brother*
Nova: he go hit in the spine and skull. I don't think he's gonna make it. Even if he does, it will take him a long time which is something we don't have
Niko: we still have a chance. Before we came to Republic city I brought some of the spirit world water with me, it was next to the tree of time and I brought 2 bottles of it
Nova: sometimes I think you're weird, *Niko looks confused* in a good way *Niko smiles*. Ok now give me a bottle
*Niko hands her a bottle*
Nova: ok now how are we gonna find a good position to put him in
*the badgermole growls at them. Niko turns around*
Niko: I think he has an idea
*after a while*
*Yin is like this, the idea is that the badgermole created this shape with earth to keep him standing"
Niko: *pets his head* thanks buddy
*the badgermole growls as a response. Nova and Niko start bending the water on his back*
Nova: do you think this will work?
Niko: this water kept the tree of time alive for over 20,000 years and just how it kept it alive, it will keep Yin
*they both inject the water into his body and bow after they finish. Light came out of Yin's eyes and mouth. The tour that was holding him breaks and he falls but Niko captures him*
Yin: what, happened?
Niko: I don't know you tell us. We just saw you flying and crashing into a hill
Yin: all I remember after that is a badgermole picking me up, then I fainted
Nova: that badgermole put you in here and we came and healed you
*Yin tries to get up but he falls again*
Nova: you won't be able to do nothing for now, you need time to rest
Yin: does it look like we have time?
Nova: I didn't give you a choice, I gave you an order
Scene 2
Location: next to the bird
Jinora: *to the airbenders* guys, it's time
*her and the airbenders hop off their bisons and form a circle around the bird, they all start airbending and forming a tornado*
Jinora: this is what you get for doing that to Yin
Zei: *smiles* it's like I haven't expected that *presses on a button. Spikes come out of the bottom of the bird and attach to the ground*
Jinora: guys keep going, he won't last that long *looks behind her and sees that the other airbenders arrived, smiles* we'll see about that *the airbenders thst just arrived start airbending and the bird starts to get lifted a bit*
Scene 3
Location: the cave
*Nova is healing Yin*
Nova: go to the bisons, they need help
Niko: ok, take care *goes*
*after a while*
Nova: wanna know what's the difference between you and mom?
Yin: sure
Nova: when mom feels helpless she gets angry. When YOU feel helpless, you become weak. You are both wrong, anger and weakness both control a person quickly and take over his body: anger makes you do stupid stuff that will resort in nothing but making you tired and weakness doesn't let you do anything in the first place
Yin: so what am I supposed to do?
Nova: keep calm, stay strong. The usual I'd you wanna say so
Yin: you're saying it as if it's easy to see a nation collapsing and you knowing that you can do nothing about it
Nova: you can do something about it, you're a really powerful bender for your age, that ushi guy taught you well, especially earthbending
Yon: thank you
Nova: it wasn't a compliment, it was the truth. You lavabended easily, that's a sign of an earthbending master, and the badgermole protected you without even knowing you before, that's another sign of an earthbending master
Yin: actually, I started learning lavabending when I was with sensei ushi. But I wasn't able to lavabend until that time, I guess the danger we were in made me do it
Nova: I told you he taught you well. I have to go right now, you stay here
Yon: ok
Nova: (to the badgermole) take care of him
*the badgermole grows as a response*
Scene 4
Location: the fight scene
*the bird starts levitating even more and the airbenders direct the tornado toward the ocean, the bird gets thrown there and they go to the island to help the earthbenders*
Scene 5
Location: the cave
*Yin is playing with the badgermole*
Yin: how are you here? Aren't you supposed to be in the earth kingdom?
*the badgermole growls*
Yin: I bet some black market dealers brought you here didn't they?
*the badgermole growls again*
Yin: I'll take that as a yes
*After a while*
Yin: I dont think that the world ending and me staying here is a good thing, I'm going there, but you stay here
*Yin gets up and starts leaving but the badgermole growls desperately because he likes Yin and is alone in a cave. Yin turns around
Yin: fine, you can come with me.
Scene 6
Location: the big wall
*the Cheif's army is already fighting Zei's one and they seem like they're losing. The airbenders join them and they all start having a huge fight. The sun is starting to set. Most of Zei's army is know defeated so the earthbenders ge and start opening holes in the big walls to try and let water go out of them. Suddenly, they feel like something is approaching. Little did they know it was the bird, it was flying*
Zei: what's a bird without being able to fly?
*the bird opens his mouth and starts shooting flames at them which made them hide. Zei's earthbenders quicky fixed the holes. This time, Zei almost burned everyone. They all went to hide and are now forces to wait for the blood moon to rise. Yin arrived*
Yin: get out of your machine and face me like a bending master Zei
Zei: I've beaten you once, and twice and I will do it a third time but this time, I'm making you rest for a long time
Yin: we'll see about that
*Zei gets out of the bird and gets down, Yin tries a trick that his sensei taught him called the "earth egg". The earthbender basically makes an egg-shaped cage from rocks and starts to shrink it on the enemy. Yin has never tried it and succeeded but he was willing to try anything. Before Zei could bend Yin eatbends and rounds his arms with rocks which made it hard to lift them and he quickly forms the egg shape and starts shrinking it, Zei starts to get crushed but before anything can happen, one of Zei's earthbenders earthbends a rock at Yin which made him fall. Then, he opens the egg and removes the rocks around his arm. Zei gets out and starts bloodbending Yin*
Zei: whsn I said I will make you rest for good this time, I meant it
*he makes him faint but before he can do anything else, the badgermole earthbends a shield, takes Yin and runs away with him*
Soldier: should we go after them sir?
Zei: there's no need to, the blood moon is arriving in 2 hours, take care of the others
Soldier: *salut* yes sir
Scene 7
Location: the cave
*Yin is in a dark place with Raava in front of him*
Yin: Raava?
Raava: hello avatar. The blood moon is showing in a bit, I'm pretty sure you know that
Yin: so what's gonna happen?
Raava: the blood moon grants bloodbenders the unique ability of bending red water. the moment sun comes into contact with it the next day, it will become all flames but not any kind of flames, it will become black fire. Black fire start eating the ground slowly until it digs deep enough that the nation is done for and only one person can bend it
Yin: so the blood moon basically grants waterbenders a bit of firebending that firebenders themselves don't have. How can a waterbender do all of this?
Raava: waterbending is more powerful than you think
Yin: so now, there's no hope
Raava: there is.
*they both enter the spirit world*
Raava: I didn't say the who the person that can bend it was yet, Shango
Yin: who is shango? And why are we in the spirit world?
Raava: after the 4 lion turtles disappeared, the new element guardians are:
shango, the fire element guardian
Yemoja, the water element guardian
Eya, the air element guardian
And gaia, the eath element guardian.
Whenever an avatar takes away or gives back someone's bending just like what avatar korra did to the people that Amoun affected, their connection with one of those gets at its highest, they, along with energybenders are the only things that can take away bending, each thier own way
Yin: what does that mean
Raava: for someone to be a bender they need to have 2 things: a spirit and an element, and both of these make the element spirits. When energybenders take away bending, they take away the spirit inside of the person. When guardians take away bending, they take the element itself. The avatar connects with them through me. When a bending is endangered the avatar can seek help from one of them but it's not that easy
Yin: what can I do to talk to one of them and where do I find them
Raava: they are located deep down the tree of time where nobody can reach them, not even me. The only way to get there is complicated
Yin: at this point, I'm willing to do anything
Raava: each spirit belongs to an element but humans can't see that. Some spirits belong to the fire element, some to the water element, some to the air element and others to the earth. When someone is born, one of those spirits mixes with their body to give them their bending element. And since I am the only one who belongs to the 4 elements at the same time, anyone who I mix with becomes the avatar. In order to be able to break through the tree of time and all that ground beneath it, you need to mix with one spirit from each element, that will make your spirit lighter than a spirit itself and will make you able to reach them
Yin: that sounds easy enough
Raava: it's not, the 2 things that spirits hate the most are humans and war, they will not help in anything that has to do with war, especially a human one.
Yin: so how can I do it?
Raava: each spirit has a something specific it loves. Fire spirits like the pink lotus flower, air spirits like silver volcanic rocks, water spirits like blue fire plants and earth spirits like fog of lost souls
Yin: and where do I find all of this?
Raava: each one is in a different location but
Yin: but what?
Raava: the pink lotus's sent is poisonous to humans, the volcano we need to go to is always active, the blue fire on the blue fire plants needs to stay lit until it's given to a water spirit and you might not make it back from the fog of lost souls. And since you have no bending here, this won't be easy
Yin: BUT WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME ALL OF THAT FROM THE BEGINNING
Raava: *grows and becomes bigger AMD get closer to Yin* THERE ARE SOME THINGS ABOUT THE SPIRIT WORLD THAT NO ONE SHOULD KNOW, THIS IS ONE OF THEM AND I WAS TRYING TO HIDE IT FROM HUMANS FOR AS LONG AS I CAN. YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND SPIRITS AND YOU WILL NEVER WILL *goes back to a smaller size* now is not the time to argue, let's go. Our first stop will be the hanguru volcano. I'm entering your body again now
Yin: wait
Raava: what?
Yin: I have a question
Raava: in listening
Yin: so from what you said earlier, technically anybody can be the avatar if they want to
Raava: no, the spirits don't actually enter your body, they enter me then I enter you and after we finish, they get out
Yin: oh ok, it makes sense now
*Raava enters Yin's body*
