Hearing his threat, they all burst into laughter as if they had just heard the funniest joke of their lives.
“Honey, don't make them more angry,” She said in a shaky voice.
“What do you want?” Mr Wilson asked after taking a deep breath to calm himself.
“For the exchange of your son, we want a Ransom of 10 billion dollars,” They said.
“Ten billion dollars, you must be joking,” Mr Wilson yelled angrily.
“Shhhh, you have a business that is worth 100 billion. 10 billion should be okay for your child's life,” He said.
“I don't have that amount,” Mr Wilson said, not agreeing to their demands.
“Baam,” A loud gunshot could be heard, followed by Alex's terrified scream.
Hearing the scream of her son, Mrs Wilson burst into tears. “Honey, please give them what they want. I can't bear to watch my son die,” She said with tears falling from her eyes.
“Dad, please help me get out of this awful place,” Alex begged.
“You hear that? The next bullet would be heading for his head. Are you still not willing?” The man asked with a taunting tone.
“I have another son who can take my position when I die. You can keep that one for me,” Mr Wilson said as he hung up.
“What the f**k. What a freaking psycho. He didn't even value his child's life,” The man said angrily.
“We went through all this stress to get him. All for nothing,” The man yelled more angrily.
“Well then, his child got it,” The man said as he pointed the tips of the gun at Alex's head.
Feeling the rough iron on his head, little Alex broke down in tears begging frantically for his life.
“Don’t kill him, Matthew,” One of them suddenly said as he stopped him.
“Robin, what are you doing?” Matthew asked angrily.
“Killing him is useless, just spare him and give him to me,” Robin said.
“Are you planning on snitching on me? You would take him and get the whole ransom,” Matthew asked with a confused gaze.
“No, that's not it. I just took pity on him. Let me bail him with 20,000 dollars so that you don't lose anything,” Robin said in a gentle voice.
“Okay,” Matthew said as he left Alex who fell to the floor. His eyes were soaked with tears as he sobbed uncontrollably.
“Blame your father for being cruel,” Robin said after Matthew left.
*********End of flashback******
“What happened at home after I was kidnapped?” Alex suddenly asked.
“Are you sure you want to know the young master?” Old man Cole asked, turning his gaze to Alex who sat opposite him.
“Yes,” Alex replied.
“Okay, after your kidnapping, Mrs Wilson died two years later from grief and trauma thinking you were dead,” Old man Cole said with a pause.
“What mother died?” Alex asked as the tears he had been holding fell freely from his eyes.
Though he hated his father for what he did to him, he still loved his mother, and hearing that she died because of him tore him apart.
“Yes, young master,” Old man Cole said with a sad gaze.
“No matter how hard Mr Wilson tried to find you, we couldn't and we believed you were dead. Not until recently,” Old man Cole said.
“Can I ask you a question and I want you to be honest with me,” Alex said.
“Sure you can, ask me anything,” Old man Cole said.
“What is the real reason for my father wanting me back and handing me the company's property? It feels strange, he already has Rowand his other son,” Alex asked.
After taking a deep sigh, old man Cole said, “Your brother had an accident which affected his brain, making him mentally unstable. He sometimes acts wild and a bit crazy.”
“Really?” Alex asked with shock in his eyes.
“Yes, young master. But he has been treated with the best doctors from all over the world but he shows little to no improvement,” Old man Coke said.
They soon arrived at the front of a big hospital. Old man Cole came out first and opened the door for Alex.
Alex felt somehow uncomfortable, for 18 years he had been treated as nothing but trash. Now his rich lifestyle is back again.
As they entered the ward where Mr Wilson was. Alex saw him pale and his skin as white as a sheet.
He had an oxygen mask on.
“Is that you Alex?” Mr Wilson said in a weak voice.
Alex didn't reply, he just stood at the door looking at him from afar.
“Mr Wilson, Young Master Alex is back home,” Old man Cole said standing beside him.
“He is here, oh thank god. Alex, can I see you,” Mr Wilson asked as he coughed.
Even though Alex hates Mr Wilson gut, he couldn't bear the pain of seeing him suffer. He walked closer to him holding his hands.
“Can you just fulfil a dying man's wish?” Mr Wilson said in a shaky voice to Alex who stood at the door with an indifferent look.
“Oh Alex, can you forgive me? I know I have done you wrong all these years,” Mr Wilson said.
“Don't stress yourself too much,” Alex said gently as he stopped him from trying to sit up.
“I have committed a sin and have prayed for it all these years. I think my prayer is now answered as I get to see you after 18 years,” Mr Wilson said, holding his hands as if Alex would disappear any moment.
“I am here now,” Alex said as he sat down on the chair beside the bed.
“Before I forget, here are the files that contain all the Wilson assets,” Mr Wilson said as he hurriedly handed over the already prepared files to Alex.
“I told you, old man Cole, before coming here. I don't want your money,” Alex said as he returned it back to him.
“Please, Alex, do you wish to return to the gutters where you are a nobody. Take it, it's yours rightfully,” Mr Wilson said as he began to cough.
Hearing this, Alex paused, because of his financial status, he was bullied, and his wife cheated openly on him. “Should I take it? But taking it means getting back to their claws, but I don't even have anywhere to spend the night,” Alex thought.
Seeing improvements, Mr Wilson continued. “I know I have wronged you all these years, and now I am giving you everything I have for us to reconcile. Please take it, it is now a must that you sign it now. Anytime you are ready,” Mr Wilson said as he handed the files back to Alex.
This time, Alex didn't refuse it.
“Old man Cole will take you back home,” Mr Wilson said. Alex stood up and left the ward.
As Alex left, a frail-looking old man suddenly looked more alive.
“Mr Wilson, taking advantage of his love for his parents is wrong,” Old man Cole said.
“Without that, he wouldn't have agreed to come home,” Mr Wilson said as he removed the oxygen mask from his face and sat down comfortably.
His sickness was a pretense for Alex to come home.
“Your acting skills were top notch. I could even see your real emotions. You miss him,” Old man Cole said.
“You are wrong, I only did that to make him do what I want. But at a glance of it, he is still soft. Can he handle the company?” Mr Wilson asked.
“Trust him, he is more than capable of doing so,” old man Cole said, assuring him.
“But throughout our conversation, he never called me father. He still hasn't forgiven me yet,” Mr Wilson said with a sad gaze.
“He would soon. He is just a child who is betrayed by the people he loved and trusted. Though he may act nonchalant and cold, he still seems warm and loving,” old man Cole said.
“Okay, spare me those sentimental talks. Just take care of him when he gets home. I know he would be targeted by the rest of the family,” Mr Wilson said.
“Okay sir, when would you be coming home?”
“When he signs the documents,” Mr Wilson said.
“Okay, you can go now before he runs away,” Mr Wilson said.
“Okay sir,” old man Cole said as he bowed slightly before leaving.
No one knows Mr Wilson better than he, he keeps an emotionless face to the public, but inside he hides his true feelings.
