Jaymes answered the door for the pizza guy. Jack called on their way home and gave his credit card over the phone, so all Jaymes had to do was sign. Just opening the door was terrifying for him, but knowing Slade and Jack were behind him, protecting Kelsea if need be, gave him courage.
He hated worrying about the pizza guy, and everyone else in his life. He never thought twice about ordering food in before, but he hadn’t done it in months. He was slowly teaching himself to cook. He still burned more than his fair share of dinners, but he was trying. Fear was a hell of a motivator. So was hunger.
Jaymes thanked the pizza guy and closed the door behind him, double checking that it was locked. It wouldn’t stop many people, but it made Jaymes feel ever so slightly better.
