“It’s fine,” I whispered again, and a moment later I recognized the approaching researcher. I didn’t know her name, but I didn’t have to. We’d only ever exchanged pleasantries in passing. I gave her a smile and a few words as we passed, and then we each continued on our way. And that was all there was to it. “I thought you said the building should be empty,” Gloria added a moment later. I shrugged, despite the fact neither of them could see it. “Researchers don’t always have the luxury of working the standard chrons.
