Possibilities
On their way to the pub, Hackenberry filled them in on British history, pointing out specific sites along the way. Fasha noticed how no one spoke about the case, or even referred to it.
"So how long have you two been partners?" Eustice inquired, making small talk.
"About forty-eight hours, counting the flight over," Jahar informed them. "This is the first time we"ve teamed up to work jointly on a case."
Hackenberry nodded. "That surprises me."
"Why?" Fasha asked.
"You act as if you"ve known each other longer than that."
She refused to meet Jahar"s telling stare. Afraid one or both of the inspectors would see the exchange and deduce they"d been right. Which could lead to other questions she would be very uncomfortable about answering.
