I had lost touch with almost all of my high school friends over the years.
Life had taken us in different directions and little by little the messages stopped, the calls became less frequent, and eventually most of those connections faded away.
The only person who never disappeared from my life was Amelia.
Sometimes I found it amazing that after everything we had gone through, we still stood beside each other.
Life had not been kind to either of us. When Amelia's parents divorced during our senior year and she struggled through one of the darkest periods of her life, I stayed by her side as much as I could.
