Chapter 31 Alex was thankful for the silence on the drive home after they picked Laura up from the food pantry in town. He knew his mother-in-law was perfectly capable of handling her own handgun, probably a bit better than any of the men in her family as it turned out. He was still relieved an armed guard was always there any time the food pantry was open. That wouldn’t likely protect Connor when the time came, but at least Etan wouldn’t lose both parents. Laura didn’t even try to lighten the mood in the vehicle after greeting the three of them. She picked up on the tension as fast as she usually did.
