Gabriel spent the entire evening trying to explain things to Ashley. Unfortunately, she seemed to be deliberately avoiding him. It wasn't until the end of the banquet that he finally had a chance.
"Ashley, it's already late. How about staying here?"
"Grandma, thank you for your kindness, but it's not appropriate for me to stay here."
Upon hearing Ashley's refusal, Maria glared at Gabriel with frustration. She thought Ashley had been such a good daughter-in-law, yet he didn't seem to appreciate her.
"What a fool."
She muttered quietly, then turned to Ashley with a smile again. "Then let Gabriel take you home. It's not safe for a young girl like you."
Ashley wanted to refuse, but Maria didn't give her a chance. She pushed Ashley and Gabriel out together.
