Ashley was startled. "What are you doing? Open the door!"
Gabriel didn't answer right away. Instead, he raised his hand and gently placed it on her shoulder, softly calling her name, "Ashley."
His voice was low and tender, but it sent a chill of unease through Ashley. Instinctively, she wanted to pull away, but the drugs in her system left her paralyzed. All she could do was glare at him furiously. "Gabriel, what are you trying to do?"
Meeting her gaze, Gabriel felt a sharp ache in his chest. He knew that if he went through with this, she would hate him forever. But the thought of watching her walk away, growing old with someone else, was unbearable.
