CHAPTER 58

1199 Words

Darlington Briggs: I went to sit on the living room executive couch to wait for Amara to finish her dinner. Now that my father wasn't around, it did not occur to me that my mother and sister would show their true colors. Amara had been living with us for almost two months now, but I didn't bother to mark the date of her arrival on our calendar. I wouldn't sit back and watch my mother ruin my chances to claim my birthright from my dad. Starting allover wasn't easy, and if I lost my position at Briggs company, I would also lose face in the outside world. I had to wait for Amara to finish her meal, noticing that even Samara was beginning to act coldly towards her. I thought they were getting along after Amara sang one of Samara's songs, but they now avoided each other like sworn enemies.
