I saw the way he treated his wife. The middle-aged woman was so rude and totally different from most of the women I had met in my whole life. I couldn't believe she was my townperson. She was rude, always insulting me and provoking her husband, but it seems he was already used to her provocation, and maybe that's why he loves her.
I thought about provoking Darlington. I hadn't expected him to react; I knew he didn't care about me. I heard him speaking to his lover. So how come he was jealous after hearing me say that I wanted his father over him?
