The next day, after completing the morning rehearsal with the orchestra, Isabella arrived at the financial building following the address Dominic had given her.
Dominic's assistant, Michael, was already waiting for her at the entrance on the first floor.
Seeing Isabella, Dominic greeted her with a smile and a polite tone, "Mr. Kingsley is in a meeting upstairs. Let me take you up."
Isabella thanked him and followed him into the elevator. The two arrived at the top floor together.
Knowing that Dominic hadn't finished his meeting yet, Dominic took Isabella around the company, giving her a brief introduction to the company's situation.
Dominic rented the top two floors of the financial building. As the domestic company was just starting, most of the offices were still vacant, creating a quiet atmosphere.
"That's the conference room, Mr. Dominic and his team should be finishing up soon." explained Michael, pointing in the direction of the conference room.
Following Michael's direction, Isabella looked through the glass curtain wall and immediately spotted Dominic sitting at the head of the conference table.
He wore a charcoal gray suit, legs casually crossed, fingers holding a document, attentively listening to his team's discussions. His handsome face displayed a cool and composed expression, exuding an air of a financial tycoon.
This version of Dominic was a far cry from the playful rogue who used to tease her. Seeing Isabella through the glass, Dominic put down the document.
"Good, proceed according to the plan. Meeting adjourned. Attorney Davidson, please stay," Dominic announced.
As the elite members left the room, holding their laptops and disappearing into different offices, only Dominic and Attorney Davidson remained in the conference room.
Dominic opened the door, approached Isabella, and affectionately encircled her slender waist with his hand, pulling her to his side.
"This is my wife, Isabella. And this is Attorney Davidson, our company's legal counsel," introduced Dominic.
"Hello, Mrs. Kingsley," greeted Attorney Davidson with respect.
Isabella tried to appear calm, shook hands with Attorney Davidson, and took a seat in the chair Dominic pulled out for her.
Attorney Davidson handed over the share authorization agreement, and Isabella carefully flipped through it, confirming that the terms matched the agreement with Dominic. She then signed her name at the end of the document.
Opening her backpack, Isabella took out an envelope containing the equity documents and handed it to Dominic. He accepted it, took out the documents, and raised an eyebrow when he read them.
Noticing his change in expression, Isabella leaned in to take a look at the documents. It was then that she realized she had brought the wrong envelope.
She handed Dominic not the equity documents but the violin consignment contract she had signed with the music store.
Concerned about last night's incident, Isabella carried important documents and IDs with her, storing them in her bag for safekeeping.
Unfortunately, the two sets of documents were in identical envelopes, and she inadvertently mixed them up.
"Sorry, I brought the wrong one," Isabella said, taking back the consignment contract from Dominic and handing over the correct envelope containing the equity documents.
Dominic passed the documents to Attorney Davidson, who carefully reviewed them and nodded, saying, "No problem."
"Good, you can handle the rest," Dominic instructed as Attorney Davidson left the room.
With a slight frown on his handsome face, Dominic watched Isabella carefully insert the consignment contract into her backpack.
Lifting her bag, Isabella stood up, saying, "If there's nothing else, I'll head back to school."
Dominic casually took her bag. "Come to my office."
Isabella followed him, curious about what else Dominic had in mind.
His office was spacious, elegantly decorated yet simple, exuding a touch of luxury.
Being in the tallest building in Meadowbrook, the entire city was visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows, offering a stunning backdrop.
Standing by the window, Dominic, bathed in brilliant sunlight, gestured for Isabella to come closer. He encircled her waist with one hand, gently pushing her towards the window.
"Do you see it?" he asked.
Isabella looked at the scenery outside the window, a bit puzzled about his intentions. "See what?"
With his left hand on the glass beside her, Dominic rested his chin on her shoulder. His right hand reached over, tilting her face slightly.
This time, Isabella saw it. A couple of blocks away, there stood a beautifully designed building—the Unity Holdings Tower, the location of the Unity Holdings Group, once owned by the Hartwell family and designed by her brother, Dylan Hartwell.
Dominic's right hand slid down, encircling her waist. "When our plan succeeds, I'll kick Maximilian out of that building!"
Isabella turned to face him, meeting his eyes. "Thank you."
Dominic's arm bent, and he lowered his head, coming close to her face. Very close, but he didn't touch her.
Their eyes locked, breaths intertwined. Isabella's heartbeat quickened, and her lips felt a bit dry. She dared not meet his gaze, lowered her eyelashes, and tensed up, not knowing where to look.
"Close your eyes," Dominic whispered, and she followed his words.
A cool sensation on her lips—it was his kiss. Unable to see, her senses heightened.
Different from the audaciousness of that night, this time Dominic seemed patient and even gentle. Isabella's tense nerves gradually relaxed, and she succumbed little by little.
It was the first time Isabella truly experienced the intimacy between adults. That kiss was not repulsive.
Even after Dominic let her go, her hand remained on his shoulder. With his arm around her waist, Dominic spoke softly.
"It seems Mrs. Kingsley is quite satisfied with that kiss."
Isabella's face turned hot. Hesitant, she withdrew her hand, attempting to push him away.
Holding her, Dominic didn't release her, burying his face in her neck. "Let me lean on you for a moment." The typically dominant man sounded unusually soft, like a slightly lonely spoiled cat.
Even someone like Dominic, does he also have worries? Isabella had no answer.
After hesitating for a moment, she finally reached out, gently embracing his waist.
The warmth of the man's chest brought an inexplicable sense of security. Isabella gradually relaxed her back, leaning gently against him.
In those days, her nerves had been tense, and her whole being was on edge. The string was about to break. She was too tired and needed a comforting hug, a shoulder to lean on.
A man and a woman, leaning on each other as if they were a real couple.
Until Michael knocked on the door, the two let go of each other.
Michael brought lunch and arranged it on a small table in the sunlight. The amount of food and utensils were for two people.
She hadn't had breakfast as she woke up late.
Smelling the tempting aroma in the air, Isabella's empty stomach couldn't help but growl.
Dominic chuckled, "I thought Isabella would be satisfied with just me."
In terms of banter, Isabella was definitely no match for him.
Ignoring him, she sat down and earnestly started eating.
Anyway, for a capitalist like him, her share of the meal cost wouldn't make a difference.
Dominic's appetite was average; he ate bit by bit.
His eyes, however, remained on Isabella, observing yet insolent.
His posture was like a lion contemplating how to devour its prey.
Feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, Isabella glanced at him.
"Why are you staring at me when you're not eating?"
"Feast for the eyes."
The high-profile investment banker, in an instant, reverted to the rogue who could make her blush.
Scooping up the last two bites of rice, Isabella stood up.
"If there's nothing else, I'll head back to school."
Dominic stood up, opened a drawer, and handed her an envelope.
Perplexed, Isabella took the envelope and opened it, freezing as she saw its contents.
