The morning at the resort was uncomfortably quiet.
Not the silence of nature… but the silence of something that "does not want to be noticed."
In the dining room, the characters slowly began gathering.
The first conversation.
Daniel Mercer (Detective):
"Did anyone notice any problems on the way here or during arrival yesterday? Anything unusual?"
A brief silence followed.
Lucas Brennan (Writer):
"I… have a strange feeling about the entrance. Like it was different when we came in."
Ethan immediately raised his head.
Ethan Blake (Technician):
"That is not true. The entrance is the same, and it has not changed. The cameras recorded our arrival normally."
Lucas looked at him calmly, but without backing down.
Lucas:
"I am not saying it actually changed… I am saying I remember it differently."
A short silence.
That sentence did not pass normally.
Elena interrupted.
Elena Whitmore (Resort Manager):
"Memory can deceive us sometimes, especially in new places. There is no need to create anxiety over nothing."
But her tone sounded more controlled than comforting.
Daniel did not immediately join the discussion, but he was watching something else:
Ethan spoke with excessive confidence about technical details.
Lucas did not seem like he was lying, but rather confused.
Elena was trying to close the subject faster than necessary.
Maya Collins (Employee):
"I also… felt that the hallways were longer yesterday."
Everyone suddenly turned toward her.
Ethan:
"That is impossible. The design is fixed."
Maya lowered her gaze and said nothing.
But the sentence remained in the room.
At that moment, Victoria entered quietly.
Victoria Hill (Investor):
"Sometimes… large places make us reinterpret details."
Then she added in a cold tone:
"What matters is not how you remember the place… but why you are focusing on it now."
Daniel stood from his place.
He was not looking for complete answers yet…
But he was now certain of one thing:
There was a difference in perception between the people, not just a simple misunderstanding.
Before leaving, he looked at everyone and said calmly:
"If our memories are already different like this from the first day… then either we are not seeing the same place… or we do not remember the same beginning."
Silence filled the room.
