POV: Third-party:
“Is that the best you got? I didn’t realize that my Beta was a weak as* b*tch. Maybe I should ask your mom to be my Beta might be a stronger contender,” Jairo said as he and his beta, Benjamin, sparred. “Sorry I’m not a werewolf on steroids like you,” Said Benjamin. However, Benjamin was a cheater during sparring and had mind-linked two more warriors to come in behind Jairo. Jairo sniffed the air, sensing the two warriors and laughed, “What a cheap move, Benny boy.” He grabbed the warriors’ arms with each of his hands, flipping them over his shoulder onto the ground. “All is fair in war.” Said Benjamin as he went to jump on Jairo. However, Jairo caught him and threw him against the padded wall. “Gotta do better than that.” Said Jairo as he wiped the imaginary dust off his arm, then helped his buddy up, then the warriors.
They headed to their rooms to shower before the meeting they had with the council. Jairo stood under the shower and let his thoughts consume him. It has been almost 11 years since fate took his mate away from him to never be seen again. He doesn’t understand why the goddess gave him the curse of being able to know who his mate was at such a young age just to have her taken away. It p*ssed him off every time he thought about it which was every day of the last almost 11 years. He punched into the tiled wall until his knuckled bled. He stopped, sighed to himself and leaned against the wall and wished fate wasn’t so cruel to him before he washed off his already healed knuckles and stepped out of the shower.
POV: Jairo
Freshly dressed in a black button-up shirt and black pants and shoes, I stepped out of the room. “Remind me to call the maintenance staff to come fix my shower when we’re done with this bullsh*t meeting.” I told my best friend. Benny, who has been my best friend since birth, and I mean since birth, since our moms had us the same day, laughed loudly and said, “Do you at least tip him for fixing your shower EVERY damn day?” I sighed and simply stated, “You know everyone is taken care of here. I’m an a*s not a dictator.”
“What do you think the council wants now?” Benny asked. “Oh, I’m sure about me taking a chosen mate, which is never going to happen.” I said angrily. “I would die before I take someone who is not my fated mate.” Benny nodded his head and agreed with me. He, just like I, is without his fated mate, and he would never settle for a chosen one either.
We stepped into my office and there were the council members waiting. I sighed and asked, “Morning, what can I do for you all today?” The council members looked at each other uncomfortably before the head council Matthew said, “You know that you are coming up to your 25th birthday and without a mate it’s making your pack look weak. We understand your fated mate is gone, so you need to pick a chosen mate. I have a list of suitable ladies from fellow Alphas who have not found their mate.” He had a folder in his hand that he tried to reach out to me. I laughed, ignoring the folder and said, “If anyone feels that my pack is weak, please let them challenge me to a duel to the death so I can show them how weak I am.” “It takes some balls to not only come into my pack and say we’re weak but to pimp out fellow Alpha’s daughters so not only are you thinking I will let go of my fated mate but take one of these ladies from their fated mates. Get out of my pack house before I challenge each of you and tear your heads off.”
“Now calm down, Jairo, we just want to ensure your pack is to its full strength and your bloodline continues. There are so few of the former royal bloodlines still in the world,” Council member Albert said. “Albert, I WILL forget you were my grandfather’s friend and I WILL rip your head off if you do NOT leave,” I said with an evil smile. The council members realized they were not getting anywhere today and left the room. I sat back in my seat and sighed. “Benny ensure they are off my land right now before my wolf loses control and goes after them.” Benny smiled a crooked smile and said, “Temper, temper, man, do you need a nappie nap?” I mean mugged him, “You just have a death wish, don’t you?” So in order to teach him a lesson I let out some of my Alpha aura just had him instantly on his knees and showing his neck in submission. “UNCLE!” He yelled. I stopped my aura, and he ran to make sure the council members left.
I walked down to the gym again and took out my frustration on a couple of punching bags until they were basically pieces of fabric and dust. After a few hours of taking my frustration out, I called for the cleaners and for them to replace the punching bags. This was becoming a daily thing, and it wasn’t enough to calm me fully, but it stopped me from going on a murder spree. That would make me look weaker than being without a mate. I will find out what happened to my mate. I will never heal until I fully know what happened to her, even if she is dead, but a part of me and my wolf knows she's out there, and I fear he will tear apart everyone and everything to get to her.
