The alpha is dead, long live the alpha!

785 Words
The sun was rising over the eastern border, and the wolf of my pack was gathering around the pack house. I was standing at the top of the stairs in front of the main door almost num to the winter cold. Behind me one my right was old Jack, my fathers beta and his wife. On the left my beta and his wife! For some reason she did not wear a warm coat, but standing there in a elegant dress, showing of her body, did she have no shame?Once the sun was full I went down the stairs to greet the elders and the ones whit a responsible position in the pack. Jack and Pete followed right behind me and greeting them as well. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Shelia going down the stairs and starting to greet them as well! What the. H… did that damn woman not know how to behave? I mind linked Pete and told him to get that woman back were she belonged, or I’d have her confined in there room! I noticed that she stopped and locked at me whit a sour face, but she turned back up the stairs, to stand next to Jack’s wife Melinda. After the greeting everyone went around the house, into the garden, and the brunch was served. There wasn’t many seats to sit in, most wolfs were standing eating, not many willing to sit down outside, this early in spring, specially since the sun just got up! But there was one big table, whit a big chair at the end, almost a throne. On each side of the table was 2 chairs, meant for Jack, Pete and there wives. The throne was for me, although a throne is for a king  normally, it signaled to everyone, that I was the new head of our pack.  I spend the day talking to any pack members that had something on there heart, something to tell me about my father or mother. Some of the elders pack members had stories of me as a pup, and telling whit pride. They knew me when I was a pup, and now the hoped I would be the alpha they helped raising me to be! I hoped, I was able to be that to. The sun was set and the moon started to rise when we started the dinner. At this time there were tables and chairs for everyone. Once again most eat in silence, thinking about the farewell coming up. But for some reason Shelia kept talking, and I wondered if she did that, to prevent herself from eating, afraid to gain weight? I really disliked that woman. Aside form the stunts she tried to pull of back when she came here, she was without any form of manners, well good ones at least! After dinner, it was time. 4 of our finest fighters’ went inside, and brought out my father. Carrying him on a stretcher, they stopped next to me, stepping out, I lead them to the forest and the clan followed behind us. We laid my father to rest next to his mate, they were fated, and we all believed her to wait for him whit the moon goddess. We al help covering the grave. All done, Jack walked up to the grave “The alpha is dead!” Pete following him “Long live the alpha!” This was my que, I jumped into a shape shift, and started running. My aim was the highest spot in our forest. Once up to of the hill I came to a full stop. There in front of me was the wolf from the night before. Just laying there, as if she waits for me. Confused I start sniffing and looking around. How can I see her, but not smell her, even the mind of the wolf is eluding me. She bow down her head as to greet me, and then she look to the moon, that’s when I remember why I’m there. I sit down, look at her one more time, and she nods to the moon. Looking at the moon I start howling, I can hear my pack from afar, grieving the los of there alpha, bidding me welcome as the new alpha. I wake up in the morning, alone on the cold ground. Last thing I remember was me walking to the wolf and then nothing. But I felt as I sleept for the first time since my mom got ill. I had the felling that the stranger had something to do whit it, but again, she felt like a dream!
