CHAPTER SIX. RICARDO MARTELLO. ••••••••••••••••••••• From where I sat on my bed, I threw a dart and it landed on Damon's Acosta picture on the wall. The man was dead but I wasn't satisfied. I knew I wouldn't be satisfied until I saw his whole family drop dead. The Acosta's were my worst enemy, and one thing I learnt from my father was to never let an enemy breathe as long as I lived. I stood up from the edge of my bed and moved towards my desk where my journal laid. I opened the page where I'd written the names of everyone belonging to the Acosta family and I picked up my pen to cancel Damon's name. He was a dead man and I knew he was already perishing in the deepest part of hell. My eyes scanned the rest of the names and my eyes fell on a particular name, Amber Acosta, the only name without a face. I ran my hand through my face and looked at another name, my next target; Gerald Acosta, he was Damon Acosta first son. Gerald Acosta was older than me by a good six years. He was a twenty-six years old pompous man, according to what I heard from my men. He wasn't someone that could be seen easily, exception being in his own club — which was one of the biggest clubs in Orleans – on Friday nights. I knew little to nothing about him but I knew Gillian would do well to fill me in on his details when I requested. I circled Gerald Acosta's name with my pen before closing the journal. Then I opened my desk and went through the tons of pictures before picking a picture with a face belonging to Gerald Acosta. He looked like the younger version of his father, although he had blonde hair. I picked up the picture and pinned it on the wall, next to his father's. The both of them would soon be having a painful reunion in hell and I was going to assure that. I moved away from my bedroom and went into my bathroom. I had no mirror in my bathroom but I knew I looked horrendous, even the scent of dried blood against my skin stinked pungent. I peeled off the clothes from my skin and placed them into the laundry basket, having it at the back of my mind to remind Benito to come take them and burn them — it was another rule in the echelon to never leave a trace of evidence, which meant to burn every trace. I walked into the jacuzzi and had a hot bath, using soap to wash away every stain of blood off my face and hair. Once I was done using the soap, I returned it and soaked myself into the bathtub. My eyes were closed as I allowed the water to baptize me, saying a little prayer as an atonement for the sin I committed that night. I later on opened my eyes and thought about Amber kitchen, the second highlight of the evening, and I wondered if I did the right thing by sparing her life. She was a beautiful woman, with beautiful curves, one I would love to have in my bed but asides that, her story did thaw my heart. Just like me, she also lost her mother to unfortunate circumstances and I believed that could be one of the reasons I spared her life; because of her sober story that I could empathize with. My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the ringing tone of my phone. I immediately stepped out from the bathtub, naked and fully drenched, before moving over to my room, leaving trails of water behind. I took my phone from the top of the desk and when I saw the caller ID, I picked it up. "Talk to me, Gillian," I said to him, wondering why he was calling me when we'd just parted ways not quite long. "What's the problem?" "I think you should turn on the news, capo," he answered. His voice was croaky. "It would make you happy." "Alright," I said, adding, "I would also need you to get everything you can find regarding Gerald Acosta, Damon Acosta first son." "Okay, capo." I hung up the phone, dropped it back on the desk and without wasting a second I left my room, headed towards the living room. I didn't bother picking up a robe or anything to cover myself up. Walking naked in the house was something I was used to, and since everyone in the house were all males, they really didn't care. Not like they had a choice anyway, it was my house and I was the capo, so I could do as I please. The living room was empty when I got there so I picked up the remote from the center table and turned on the TV, switching the channel over to any news channel. Just like Gillian had said, the news did put a huge grin on my face. It elated me to the core to see the blurred head of Damon Acosta on a stake outside of Acosta's church. I watched in absolute enthusiasm as the news anchor had a terrified visage on his face as he spoke about the breaking news of the evening. "I am standing outside the biggest church in the whole of the United States," his voice boomed out from the TV while I rested my body on a pillar. "And behind me is an horrendous sight as you all can see. On a stake is the head of Damon Acosta whom we all know as Mr charitable. The police has told us little to nothing about how this happened, but all we know is that the dead body of Mr Damon Acosta and some of his workers were found at his abode by his wife who was planning on giving him a surprise visit. His body has been mutilated beyond recognition and a report reaching me says, there was a message on the body which said — Hello Acosta. I am left speechless by this sight and one thing I can say is, the devil is on the loose because only him could have done something as inhuman as this, and we hope the police catch him on time-" I turned off the TV. That was enough good news for me. I threw the remote to the chair and walked back to my room. As soon as I stepped foot through the door, I heard my phone ring. I moved towards it and peeped at the caller ID before picking it up with the speed of light. "Hello, pàpa." "Ricardo," his voice sounded proud and happy. I supposed he had seen the news. "I saw the news."
