(Juliette's POV) Hands came over my eyes from behind. Warm. Familiar. "Not yet," Dominic said, his chin dropping to my shoulder. "Give it a second." I stood there and let him cover my eyes. Something in my chest cracked open - not pain, not warmth. Just a hollow echo. I remembered a night on the university lawn when he'd set off a small string of fireworks just for me. I remembered him on one knee, the ring box open in his hands, his voice shaking. All of it felt like it had happened to someone else. "Okay," he said. "Now." I opened my eyes.
