Chapter 31 MARIA ushered me into her office. ‘This is a pleasant surprise. I didn’t think you were coming back.’ I limped over to the armchair in front of her desk. My foot had suffered a lot of tissue damage and it was a long healing process. I had joked with Steph that she might now beat me to the goal of competing in a triathlon. ‘It’s not about me this time.
