‘So, what was Maria like? Was she easy to talk to?’ I kept my eyes fixed on the road ahead of me. Sarah had already asked me twice, in different ways, how the session had gone. ‘We didn’t do a lot of talking – I had to answer a lot of questions that apparently indicate whether I’m anxious or depressed and we’re going to discuss those next time.’ We were both silent as I negotiated my way through the late afternoon traffic to my parents’ house at Woollahra.
